昭和17年10月31日、中部太平洋上でSS I-25がxAK Silverteakを雷撃して、魚雷2本命中。次いで南西に2ヘクス離れた地点で、SS I-174がxAK Empire Grenfellを雷撃して、魚雷1本命中。ともにfuel cargo burningと表示され、沈没音が聞かれました。位置的に同じコンボイの所属船だと思われます。連合軍は貨物船で燃料を輸送しているようですが、反撃の爆雷投射がなかったので護衛の艦艇はつけていないようですが、まったくもって船腹に余裕のあるお金持ちがうらやましい。今回襲撃したヘクスは、以前SIGINTで連合軍TFの存在が報告されていた位置です。長いこと待った甲斐がありました。ただし、Reluctant Admiral modではオリジナルのグランドキャンペーンシナリオよりも日本側の潜水艦の数が少なくなっているので、こういった待ち伏せを多数仕掛けるというわけにはいかないのが難点です。
その後、スマトラ島のメダンの東隣のヘクスでDMS W-8がSS KVIIIに雷撃されました。さいわい魚雷は命中せず、逆に爆雷を一個命中させました。メダンのヘクスに連合軍の機雷アイコンがみえるでしょう。この機雷もSS KVIIIが敷設したものなのかもしれません。前日メダンに機雷が発見されたので、DMS W-8をDMS W-11とともに機雷掃海TFを組んでシンガポールからメダンに向かう途中でした。メダンには油田があるのでタンカーの出入りが頻繁ですが、被害がなくラッキーでした。
ニューギニア東部ではとうとうワウに連合軍の地上部隊7つが到着しました。サラモアからワウに移動させてあった日本の地上部隊のうち、144聯隊と海軍の陸戦隊2個と防備隊1個は連合軍より速く到着していました。しかし、工兵部隊や高射砲大隊は装備が重いからかまだ移動中です。連合軍側も西隣のヘクスにまだ16720名の部隊が後続していますから、これの到着を待って攻撃するつもりか、それとも早速これから攻撃なのか。日本側の後続する部隊が到着するにはあと5日ほどかかりそうで、それまで攻撃を待って欲しいところですが、無理なお願いかな。マダンへのFast Trasnport TFでのサプライ輸送が困難になったため、ニューギニア東部の日本側は全般的にサプライ不足で！アイコンがついてます。 サプライ不足の下で日本側の部隊の充足状況はというと、例えば144聯隊。ブナをめぐる戦いで6月29日にAV 0、TOE 12/29まで低下していたのが、この4ヶ月でAV 99、TOE 82/87まで回復しています。またワウのfortificationも3になってはいますが、ただそれでも米軍には一蹴されてしまうのでしょうが。
ダーウィンからPort Hedlandにかけてのオーストラリア北西部は日本側が占領していましたが、豪軍地上部隊が奪回作戦を展開しています。Nookanbahを解放後、Derbyに向けて進軍中です。日本側の部隊はダーウィンに38師団の3つに分割したうちの２つが駐屯しているのと、Port Hedlandに舞鶴第三特別陸戦隊がいるのみです。その他は無人なので、豪軍の進撃をとどめることはできません。ダーウィンにいる百式重爆と一式陸攻で嫌がらせ爆撃を続けています。
