ビルマ戦線では、ラングーンやモールメンから退却した連合軍部隊が数日前にToungooに移動してきていました。Toungooに連合軍部隊がいると、油田と大きな飛行場のあるMagweやビルマ中部の中心都市マンダレーに、ラングーンから鉄道を使った戦略移動ができずとても不便です。Toungooにはタイ国軍のRTA Cavalry Divisionと2nd RTA/B Divisionが駐屯していたので、昭和17年2月12日に排除を試みましたが修正AVが日本側33対イギリス軍63で全く歯が立ちません。仕方がないので、Meiktila攻略後にtaung Gyiに向かわせたかった第112歩兵聯隊と砲兵2部隊とをToungooに南下させることにしました。
第112歩兵聯隊と砲兵2部隊は昭和17年2月14日にToungooまで4マイルの地点まで移動してきていました。ここまではmove modeで移動させてきたのですが、ここからcombat modeで移動させても翌日にはToungooのヘクスに到着することが明らかだったので、2月15日にToungooにいたRTA Cavalry Divisionと2nd RTA/B Divisionとに再度deliberale attackを指示しました。こうすればタイ国軍2部隊に加えて、ちょうど移動して到着したばかりの第112歩兵聯隊も戦闘に加わってイギリス軍を撃破できると思っていました。ところが実際に戦ってみると、修正AVは日本側13対イギリス軍67で12日の時よりもひどいことになってしまいました(でも死傷者は日本側193、イギリス側248と逆の結果で、これは士気の低さからでしょうか)。被害の内訳を見ると、この日戦ったのはタイ国軍部隊だけだったようです。
その日移動してきた部隊が戦闘に加わらないというのは仕様でしょうか？それとも偶然？渡河してきた部隊が強制的にshock attackする仕様があったりするので、ふつうに移動してきた部隊も目的ヘクスで戦闘が行われていれば自動的に戦闘に加入するのかと思ったのですが、そうではないようです。あらためて2月16日に第112歩兵聯隊を主力に攻撃をかけてみると、修正AVが日本側98対イギリス軍35で、英軍部隊を排除することができました。
ハワイの南西沖でI-169がPacific L Cargo級 xAK Dundula(tonnage 3700, VP 7)を2回攻撃して撃沈しました。日が昇ってからこの連合軍TFの構成はCMとAPと2隻のxAKで、西に向かって航行していると報告されました。この位置だと真珠湾を出港したTFで、しかもこの編成で西に向かって航行しているということは、目的地がBaker Islandの兵員輸送コンボイのような気がします。
開戦後しばらくしてからBaker IslandのヘクスにはRO-60を貼り付けていて、またTarawaにいる九七大艇の哨戒圏内でもありますが、連合軍艦船はみかけていません。なので、いまのところBaker Island無人島(というか軍隊がいない島)だと思われます。日本軍がパレンバン攻略に集中している隙を突いて、中部太平洋に歩を進めるというのはとてもリーズナブルな作戦ですね、さすが。でも一泡吹かせてやりたい気がするので、ラバウルにいたCA衣笠、CL長良をBaker Islandに向かわせてみることにしました。燃料の浪費に終わるかもしれませんが、こういうあたりがPBEMの楽しみでもあります。
陥落後のシンガポール港ですが、DMS2隻ずつの掃海TFを2つ作業させていました。2日間で合計261個の機雷を処理して連合軍の機雷マーカーが消えました。掃海完了と考えてこれから続々と艦船を入港させますが、FOWでまだ残ってたりなんてことはないですよね。
