exp 55のxAKL Korei Maru

数日前からスマトラ島南端の港町OosthavenにSasebo 2nd SNLFを上陸させ、引き続いてサプライを揚陸したコンボイがボルネオ方面への帰港途中に、昭和17年2月1日、オランダのAMc(Coastal Minesweeper)に出くわしました。このAMcは、Oosthavenの占領時に出航を余儀なくされたものかもしれません。双方のTFとも距離2000ヤードで相手を視認しましたが、ともに水上戦闘TFではないためなのでしょうが、双方とも撤退しようと試みました。しかし、距離が離れる前にxAKL Korei Maruが発砲。みごとに命中して、AMc Digoelに大きな爆発がみられたそうです。

護衛していたPBの方ではなくてxAKLが発砲したことに興味を抱いてxAKL Korei Maruをチェックしてみると、船員のexpが55/15もありました。開戦時はふつうの貨物船並の25/13しかなかったのに、ここ数日で急上昇しています。OosthavenにSasebo 2nd SNLFを輸送してくる航海は、護衛の水上戦闘TFをフォローさせていました。複数のTFをフォローに設定したためにバグったのかもしれないのですが、ボルネオ島とスマトラ島の中間で移動しない日が数日続き、連日、英蘭空軍の爆撃を受けることになってしまいました。xAKL Korei Maruの8cm/40 Type 88 Gun(両用砲)の弾薬はかなり減少していますから、対空砲火に張り切ったのでしょう。そのためにexpが上昇して、今日の砲撃命中につながったのかも知れません。expの高さを生かすためPBにでも改装したいところですが、Kasu-D CargにはPBへの改装の途が用意されていないのが残念です。
