だいぶ前からラングーン市街で英軍部隊を包囲しています。連日の砲撃と時々の爆撃で痛めつけ、そろそろかなと思い、昭和17年4月12日にDeliberate attackをしかけました。日本側は兵員65092名、砲792門、車輛298台に対して、英軍は兵員35209人、砲310門、車輛571台と、兵員と砲は2倍の優勢です。ラングーンは都市で防御側が有利な修正を受けることができます。また英軍は毎日チッタゴンからB-17や輸送機でせっせとラングーンにサプライを空中投下していますが、包囲下の英軍はサプライ不足を来していて、修正odds比は3対1と日本側の優勢となりました。これですんなり殲滅できればいいのですが、結果は日本側の死傷者2589名、英軍側1132名と日本側が2倍の被害を受けてしまいました。ラングーンの英軍部隊を殲滅できるのはまだだいぶ先のようです。
陸戦の勝利と敗北を決定するのはAVですが、陸戦での被害を決める大きな要因は、戦闘に参加している部隊を構成するdevice(歩兵分隊・各種砲・戦車など)のAnti-Soft値とAnti-Armor値だと言われています。英軍の車輛にはかなりの数の戦車が含まれていて、日本側のdeviceにはこれを打ち破るだけのAnti-Armor値がないのかもしれません。また今の時期は日英の歩兵分隊のAnti-Soft値は同じくらいなので、防御側がかなりへたばらない限り、攻撃側の方の被害が大きくなるのはやむを得ないところなのでしょう。destroyedになった歩兵分隊の数が英軍より少なかったのがわずかな希望です。
Promeにいる英18師団の包囲も狙っているのですが、今日から撤退を始めていました。捕捉できるかどうかは不明ですし、捕捉できても殲滅にはかなり手間取りそう。それと、ベンガル湾には明日アキャブを艦砲射撃する予定の2つのTFが進撃中です。ちょっと考えるところあって、二つに分けてみました。結果が楽しみ。
ルーガンビルの西南のヘクスには今日も連合軍TFの存在が報告されています。しかし、今日もルンガの陸攻・大艇ともに攻撃してくれませんでした。そうなるかもと思って、ツラギから駆逐艦をこのヘクスのパトロールに派遣したのですが、こちらも攻撃してくれません。運が悪いだけなのか、それともEscort TFは攻撃に対してimmuneなのか。この海域はヌーメアのB-26の攻撃圏内なので、駆逐艦といえども長居はさせたくないんですけどね。
