昭和17年4月14日、衡陽(Shaoyang)で第3師団が全滅しました。中国では鉄道線の確保を目標に進めてきました。しかし長沙の中国軍の大軍を攻めあぐね、南方の桂林や南寧を先に落としてから長沙の方に戻ることにしました。しかし、南方の攻略時に長沙から戦略移動で援軍が来ると困るので、どこかで鉄道線を分断することを企図しました。しかし、湘江の渡河地点の選択が問題です。森林ヘクスに向けて渡河すると、渡河によりshock attackを、防御効果の高い森林ヘクスに立て籠もっている中国軍に対して強要されることになってしまい、大損害が予想されます。そこで平地のヘクスである78, 53に向けて第3師団を渡河させることにしました。平地のヘクスでは漢口に駐屯している九七重爆による爆撃の効果が極めて大なので、待ち受けにくいだろうと考えたからです。
漢口から武漢を経由して道なき森林を進軍して湘江南岸から78, 53のヘクスへの渡河は、非常に時間がかかりましたが成功しました。これで目的は達成なので、西か東の森林ヘクスに移動して居座れば大成功だったと思います。しかし、2ヘクス離れた衡陽の守りがあまりに薄く、ここを占領すれば長沙へのサプライの輸送を妨害する効果もあるだろうと考えて、衡陽に向けて移動したのが失敗の始まりでした。中国軍は湘江渡河成功まではこちらの動きに気づいていなかったようですが、さすがに都市ヘクスの隣で日本軍が何か企んでいることはわかってしまいます。こちらが到達した時には中国側もそれなりの兵力を衡陽に集めていて、しかも第3師団の通った西側のヘクスからも援軍を送り込んできました。
敵の占拠しているヘクスに侵入した場合、自分の侵入してきた方から敵の部隊が後を追ってくると、そちらへのhexsideの支配権を失って後退することができなくなります。ラングーンではそのようにして英軍を「包囲」したわけですが、ここ衡陽では第3師団が「包囲」されてしまいました。包囲されると(空輸以外の)外部からのサプライの供給も絶たれてしまいます。でも、シンガポールやクラークフィールドやラングーンでの連合軍の頑張りをみて、第3師団も中国軍あいてならかなりやれるのではないかと思っていたのがまずかった。中国軍は合計のAV 1718になる5万名以上の部隊を集めていて、4月7日の第一回攻撃で修正AV 1対4で敗北し大損害を喫しました。その後、11日に1対6、12日に1対8、13日に1対25、そして今日14日には1対21で敗北し降伏はしなかったのですが

ということで、四散・全滅してしまいました。パッチにより、降伏・全滅した地上部隊をPPを支払うことで21-36日後に再編成することができるようになりました。第3師団も28PPを支払うと11th Army[R] HQ所属で26日後に東京で再編成されるそうです。練度や士気がかなり低い状態で、しかも充足率1%くらいで登場するでしょうしから、使い物になるまでには本土で半年くらいは錬成しないといけないかもしれません。東京に登場するのに所属するHQが支那派遣軍隷下のままというのは変ですが、すぐに外地に派遣できない点は11th Army[R] HQ所属でも、General Defence Army HQ[R]所属でも一緒ですから、ゲーム的には問題ないというDevの人の判断でしょう。まあ、充足率が低いまま登場ということはrestrictedをはずすのにかかるPPがとても少なくて済むということでもありますから、登場したらすぐにHQを南方軍かなにかに所属替えをして100%充足するまで待つことにしようと思います。
BB Warspiteですが、やはり陸攻は攻撃してくれず、派遣した駆逐艦3隻もB-26の低空からの爆撃で2隻が損傷して帰投させることにして、補足できていません。昨日のリプレイ中に沈没音が聞かれ、今日の偵察ではAPD一隻のTFが報告されているので、これがEscort TFの残りの一隻でBB Warspiteは沈んだのかもしれません。でも、逃げられたのかもしれません。同じヘクスにいるAMC 3隻とCL 3隻のTFが謎です。このAMCという報告は間違いですべて正規の軍艦で構成されたTFがBB Warspiteを狙う日本側の水上艦隊を追っ払いに来たのか？それとも本当にAMCが含まれていてニューヘブリデスのどこかの島に上陸を狙っているのか？後者なら機動部隊を出撃させることになるかもしれませんが、こんな南の方では戦いたくないというのが本音です。明日の様子をみてどうするか決めようと思います。
