コンバットリポートを見ていると、WitP AEの中で日本の爆撃機が投下する爆弾には、AP Bomb、SAP Bomb、GP Bombの3種類があることが分かります。APはarmor piercing、GPはgeneral purposeでいいんでしょうが、SAPが分からなかったのでぐぐってみました。ちょうどWar BirdsのQ&Aに書いてあって、SAPはsemi armor piercingの略で、日本海軍の八十番(800kg)爆弾だと、APは五号爆弾(徹甲弾)、SAPは通常爆弾、GPは陸用爆弾になるのだそうです。
このゲームで日本海軍の繁用する航空爆弾はそれぞれGPとAPの二つずつにまとめられています。このうち、250kgと100kgのAP bombはそれぞれ250kg SAP Bomb、100kg SAP Bombと名付けられているのに、800kgは800kg AP Bombとなっています。これは、800kgAP Bombが真珠湾の戦艦を沈めるために砲弾を改造して作られた本物の徹甲弾なのに対して、250kgと100kg爆弾は装甲のそれほど厚くないか、または装甲のない艦船にダメージを与えるための通常爆弾というイメージで設定されたのかなと思います。

昭和17年1月20日も、mini KBはバタビア港を空襲しました。攻撃に向かった35機の九七艦攻はすべて800kg AP Bombを搭載していました。昨日の空襲ともあわせて考えると、港湾爆撃での800kg爆弾に使用が珍しくないことは理解できました。そこで、疑問に感じるのは港湾爆撃でつかわれる800gk爆弾が800kg AP Bombであること。800kgもあるモノがはるか上空から落下してきてぶつかれば、AMcのような小艦艇が一撃で破壊されてしまうことは理解できます。でも、ある程度以上の大きさの客船だとどうなんでしょう。この徹甲弾は戦艦の装甲を通過して内部で爆発するように作られた爆弾でしょう。客船や貨物船の船体を構成する鋼板を突き破って反対側に通り抜けてしまって、不発で終わらないか心配です。港は航行中の海と違って海底が浅いから、そこにぶつかって爆発すればいいということなんでしょうか。
昔々、佐藤大輔という人の書いたレッドサンブラッククロスという仮想戦記 (とても面白いのですが、残念ながら未完のシリーズ) を読んだことがあります。その7巻バーニングアイランドのなかに、ドイツの戦車パンテルIIと日本の駆逐艦初雪が対決する場面(シチリア島上陸の時に同じような状況があったそうで、そこから想を得たものでしょうか)が出てきます。パンテルIIは最初に戦車用徹甲弾を放ち駆逐艦に多数命中したのですが、反対側に抜けていってしまっただけでした。そこで次からは命中したら爆発するように88ミリ榴弾に変更して、ひどい目に遭わせたというエピソードが書かれています。内部に炸薬のはいっていない戦車用徹甲弾と、多少なりとも炸薬の詰められている徹甲爆弾を一緒にしてはいけないのでしょうが、800kgAP Bombという表示をリポートの中にみていて、このデストロイヤー・ヴァーサス・パンツァーを想いだしてしまいました。
AEのプレイヤーの中にも同じく、800kgAP Bombに不発の危惧をおぼえる人がいるようです。The War RoomのOrdanance on Port attack - is there a choice?というスレのなかでは、800kg AP Bombは爆発せずに通過するだけだから、ひどいFltダメージになるだろうけど、Sysダメージは少しで、Fireはゼロなのでは、などのレスがついていました。
つでながら、昭和17年1月20日、19日に引き続きシンガポールで陸戦を行いました。今日は決めるつもりでshock attackにしたのですが、防御施設のレベルが1に復活してしまっていて、修正オッズ比776対795の1対2で攻撃失敗。1月中の陥落は無理かもしれません。シンガポールは対空砲火が熾烈でFlakによる撃墜が無視できずな、爆撃は高度15000フィートから行っています。これだと命中弾がとても少なくて、飛行場は毎日爆撃しないと修復されてしまって、防御施設のレベルを回復されてしまうという教訓でした。
