昭和17年1月11日、機動部隊は少し南下してフィジーのSuvaにいる連合軍艦船に空襲を実施しました。九七艦攻38機と九九艦爆36機の攻撃で、AG Spica、AG Aldebaran、xAK Steel Exporter、xAK Charles H Crampの4隻を沈めました。全機が攻撃を終える前に沈んでしまって、何もせずに帰還した機体も少なくありませんでした。その南側のヘクスにもCLとDDがいるので、別に攻撃隊を送ってほしかった。それにしても、フィジーのSuvaとその南側のヘクスの艦船は数日前からずーっと存在が報告され続けています。1月10日に機動部隊がエスピリッツサントに空襲を仕掛けたので、このSuvaも空襲の危険があることが連合軍にも分かっているはずだと思うのです。私なら艦船を退避させると思いますが、船腹に余裕のある連合軍としては多少は空襲で失っても惜しくはないということなんでしょうか。
Loemadjangで上陸作戦を行った後、退避中だった船団のxAK Hukusei Maruが、スラバヤからSwordfish Iの攻撃を受け、魚雷1本が命中して沈没しました。雷撃にしても爆撃にしても、連合軍ではSwordfish Iが一番活躍していますね。日本側もオーストラリア南岸でI-3がAD Black Hawkに魚雷を2本命中させました。これまでのところ潜水艦による通商破壊はそれなりに成果を上げていると思います。
今日、第37ターンまでに201件のSgint情報がありました。そのなかでTFの存在するヘクスを知らせてくれたのはこの9ケース。フォーラムでは日本側のSIgint情報はcrapだという声が多いのですが、私は全部がcrapだとは思いません。連合軍がハブとして使う港はある程度予想がつきますが、その間の航路を推定する際に、Glenの哨戒報告とあわせてこのSigint情報はとても有用です。今日の報告の183, 122もノーマークのヘクスでしたが、Heavy Volume of Radio transmission detectedということで、大規模な船団の航路にあたっているのでしょう。潜水艦の配置をすこしいじりました。
