昭和17年5月16日、ポートモレスビーからブナへと撤退中の部隊が、アメリカの第24歩兵師団、第24歩兵連隊、第2ニュージーランド旅団に補足されました。戦闘は修正AV 1対2で、2340名の死傷者を出して敗退し、ブナへ後退しました。ポートモレスビーに上陸した連合軍側の地上部隊は機甲部隊を含む2個師団強でしたが、今日の戦闘に参加したのは一個師団半くらいでした。でも、ポートモレスビーのヘクスを眺めると東へ移動中の部隊が見えますから、この方面を追及する方針でしょう。私が連合軍をもっていてもそうすると思います。先日のエントリーで書いたように、基本的に東部ニューギニアは放棄しようと思っています。ただ、今日の戦闘結果をみても、ジャングルヘクスなので一個師団を送り込めればかなりやれそうな感じではあります。しかし、ポートモレスビーの陸上機が強力なので、無事に送り込むことが無理だろうと思うんですよね。
ポートモレスビー陥落により、ラバウル港が安全ではなくなったと判断して、ラバウルの在泊艦艇は後方に移動させました。開戦時に苦労してトラックからラバウルへ移動させ、ラバウルで損傷潜水艦の修理によく働いてくれていたDublon ARDもトラックへ戻りつつあります。しかしトラック周辺のヘクスには連合軍潜水艦の跳梁が著しく、無事に到着できるかどうか何とも言えません。そこで、バックアップのために、パラオにいたTarva ARD(Dublon ARDの同型艦で、RA modで追加された)をサイパンに移動させることにしました。 出港して一日しかたっていないのですが、オペレーショナルリポートに

ARD Tarva ARD sustains damage while under tow at 91 , 97
という見慣れない事故報告がありました。事故の内容については不明ですが、ARDを移動させること自体滅多にないことですから、珍しい出来事だと思います。また、ARDの移動速度は1ノットで一日に1ヘクスしか進めないわけですが、ふつうの艦船とは違ってタグボートに曳航されているという設定だからなわけですね。Tarva ARDの状態をチェックしてみるとSys 7, Flt 13(0), Eng 4(0)と中程度のダメージを受けていました。このままサイパンまで航海させるのは心配なので、ひとまずパラオに戻すことにしました。
