昭和17年11月21日、MeraukeにDD初風と夏潮の2隻が殴り込み、AM Townsville(VP 2, tonnage 625)とxAKL Pulganbar(VP 2, tonnage 1050)の2隻を撃沈しました。2隻とも小さな船ですが、すこしは日本海軍の夜戦の伝統とやらを連合軍にも知ってもらえたかな。
その後、昨日に引き続き夜間空襲がありました。ニューギニア戦線では昨日と同じくニューギニア島中部北岸のホーランディアにポートモレスビーから、B-17E Fortress 10機、B-17F Fortress x 8機、B-24D Liberator 12機の合計30機が来襲しました。四発爆撃機30機が6波に分かれての来襲で、昨日も書いたようにやはり細切れな状態です。これに関してはやはり不具合があったそうで、10月19日のUpdated 1119bで

と修正されました。CAPのゼロ戦(A6M3b Zero) 14機が迎撃しましたが、Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 12に加えて、ゼロ戦が空戦で6機、地上で2機破壊されてしまいました。
ビルマ戦線でも昨日と同じくカルカッタからマグエに B-17E Fortress 10機、Liberator II 4機、B-24D Liberator 13機、B-25C Mitchell 6機の合計33機が6波に分かれて来襲。二式戦(Ki-44-IIa Tojo) 12機と二式複戦(Ki-45 KAIa Nick) 16機が迎撃しましたが、Airbase hits 2、Runway hits 16に加え、日本機が空戦で8、地上で8機損失となってしまいました。
今日の連合軍爆撃機の損失はB-17E Fortress 2機とB-25C Mitchell 1機。夜間空襲でも、なるべく多数の機体がまとまって空襲した方が都合がいいのかなと思っていましたが、いずれにせよ連合軍爆撃機の損失はほとんどないわけですから、連合軍側としてはどっちでもいいと思っているのでしょう。2日にわければ、2日目はCAPの戦闘機がへばってもっと少ないと思ったのかもしれません。
その後、オーストラリア東岸ケアンズの近海でSS I-19がxAK Mobile City(VP 9, tonnage 4650)を雷撃し、魚雷2本命中で撃沈しました。その他、中国戦線でのやりとりはいつも通りありましたが、リプレイはこんな感じで終了です。これだけならまあ平凡な一日なのですが、リプレイが終わってマップをみてびっくりすることがありました。
ひとつはセイロン南東で発見されたAK(貨物船)。総勢3隻だそうで、あとの2隻の艦種は不明です。でも南東に向けて航行中って、いったいどこに行くつもりでしょう。3隻でスマトラやクラ地峡に上陸作戦というわけにもいかないと思うので謎です。日本側の哨戒圏がどのあたりまでなのかを調べるつもりなんでしょうかね。
そしてもっと重大なのはこっち。マーシャル諸島の北方に連合軍のTFが発見され、6隻のうち4隻がCAだと報告されています。残りの2隻がDDだとすると、一日で16-18ヘクスは移動できるのでここまで入り込まれてしまうんですね。この位置はRoi-Namurまで距離8ヘクスですし、マーシャル諸島でいちばん大きな飛行場はRoi-Namurにあるので、Roi-Namurの艦砲射撃を狙っているのではないかと想像します。Roi-NamurにはAir HQと九六陸攻36機が配備されています。本当なら今日のうちに雷撃してほしいところですが、そうはなりませんでした。
雷撃のなかった理由は九六陸攻の航空隊のPrimary MissionがNaval AttackではなくNaval Searchになっていたからでした。なぜPrimary MissionがNaval Searchにしたのか。思い出してみると、ここの九六陸攻のパイロットは全員、NavTスキルが70以上ですが、NavSスキルは70に達していない人ばかりです。Naval Search 30%, Trainng 40%, Rest 30%に設定しておけば、哨戒飛行しながら無理なくスキルが上昇していいなと思って、こう設定したのでした。その頃は、まさかこんなところまで連合軍TFが入り込んでくるとは思っていなかったので。非常にあまい考えでした。反省。
今晩のうちにRoi-Namurは艦砲射撃されてしまうでしょう。九六陸攻はどこか別な飛行場に退避させるべきでしょうか？でもAir HQのcommand radius内で雷撃を可能な飛行場は、隣のクエゼリン島の飛行場だけですが、ここは規模2。規模2の飛行場からでも雷撃に出撃してくれることがあると読んだ記憶はあります。でも哨戒もしなければいけないし、雷撃とあわせて規模2の飛行場でやってくれるのか心配。そもそも、艦砲射撃を終えたあとに連合軍TFがどちらに向かって退避するのかも不明(艦砲射撃TFにwaypointを設定したときのバグは先日のベータパッチで修正されたので、必ずしもいまいる地点に戻るとは限りません)ですから、明日の航空攻撃を期待するならクエゼリンの北方だけでなく、南側も哨戒しなければなりませんよね。と、あれこれ悩んでそのままRoi-Namurに置いておくことにしました。隣のクエゼリンに二式大艇、九七艦攻を移動させました。一矢報いてくれるといいのですが。ともあれ、この連合軍TFは威力偵察みたいなものなのでしょう。ニューギニアが一息ついたので、つぎはマーシャル諸島の攻略かもと感じます。史実のマーシャル・ギルバートの戦いより一年以上早いけど、空母戦力では日本側が劣っているし。
