原因不明の海難事故

昭和17年12月27日、今日もラバウルに夜間空襲がありました。四発63機(B-17E Fortress 21、B-17F Fortress 14、B-24D Liberator 28)が10波に分かれて来襲し、CAP 35機(二式水戦A6M2-N Rufe 5、ゼロ戦51型A6M5 Zero 9、ゼロ戦52型A6M5b Zero 17、二式複戦Ki-45 KAIa Nick 4)が迎撃しました。 Airbase hits 4、Airbase supply hits 1、Runway hits 15の命中弾があり、日本機の損失はCAPが空戦で17機、地上での破壊が8機でした。

連日のラバウル空襲で、二式大艇の部隊がひどいことになっています。ゼロ戦52型のDurability 27、二式複戦のDurability 36などに比較して、二式大艇はDurability 48と高く、ほかの機種に比べると地上で破壊されにくい印象がありますが、爆撃によるダメージはしっかり受けているようです。四発機ですからService Rating 3と高く、いったん故障してしまうと修理に長い日数がかかるので、故障中の機体がこんなにたくさん。爆撃に来ているB-24なんかはService Rating4もあるのに連日爆撃に来ることができているのは、CAPの攻撃やFlakがほとんどダメージを与えていないんでしょうね。困ったもんだ。

ポートモレスビーの南西沖で、12月25日にダーウィンの艦砲射撃を実施したTFが目撃されました。帰途をこちらにとったということは、やはりこちらから来たということなんでしょうね。てっきりオーストラリア南西のパースからやって来て、そちらに帰って行ったとばかり思っていました。いずれにせよ、ここに来ているということは、しばらくダーウィン周辺は安泰でしょう。オーストラリア北西岸の根拠地奪還用のTFはBroomeとDerbyへの揚陸に成功しました。やはり無人のようで反撃はなく、明日には占領できるでしょう。

SHIP CREWS PERFORM DAMAGE CONTROL 

xAK Nikki Maru sinks....

夜が明けて午前の空戦フェーズが終わった後、突然、マリアナ諸島の西方沖でxAK Nikki Maruが沈没したと表示されました。今日は損傷のひどい艦船にこの辺りを航行させたおぼえがなかったので、リプレイ終了後に早速チェックしてみました。xAK NIkki Maruは僚船7隻とともにPB1隻の護衛で、バリクパパンからサイパンにfuelを輸送するコンボイに所属していました。昨日までは船体にまったくダメージなく航海してきましたが、Trackerをみると今日突然のダメージ。僚船にはダメージの増加した船はなく衝突は否定的ですが、Fire 89となっているのでなんらかの原因で火災が発生した模様です。fuelを輸送する貨物船なので、重油入りのドラム缶が多数積載されていのだと思いますが、Sunk By: Unknownということは失火なんでしょうか。こういうのは初めての経験です。かなり昔のスレですが、今回のxAK Nikki Maruの事故と同じような経験をした人がたてたMystery Sinkingというスレがあります。そこでは原因不明の沈没について

• "unknown device"による沈没は機雷が原因らしい
• 燃料ぎれでPTボートが沈んだことがある
• 哨戒機に落とされた爆弾が命中することがあるが、リポートにその旨が表示されることはないので、そのせいかもしれない。"TF spotted by patrol plane"みたいな報告があれば、そのせいだろう
• このゲームには、船体に損傷の及ぶようなランダムなイベント、例えば機関室での爆発や悪天候による損傷なんかが組み込まれているんだろう

などの意見が出されていました。今回の事故の起こった場所は、太平洋の真っ只中の深海ヘクスなので機雷は考えにくいし、また連合軍の哨戒機の到達できるところでもありません。戦争とは直接関係のないふつうの海難事故ということなんでしょう。スレの中では原因不明のタンカーの喪失が触れられていたので、fuelを積載している船はこういう事故を起こしやすいということがあるのかもしれません。戦艦陸奧の爆沈みたいなこともありますから、ゲームにこういったランダムなイベントが組み込まれているのも悪くはないですね。でも、そういったイベントが連合軍艦船に発生してくれれば、もっと良かったのに。
