遊びをせんとや: ボーファイターも登場

昭和17年1月21日、連日ですが今日も主な戦闘は夜間空襲。重慶へ九七重爆(Ki-21-IIa Sally) 9機と百式重爆(Ki-49-IIa Helen) 66機が6波に分かれて侵入しました。昨日予想したとおり、重慶上空にはBeaufighter VIf 4機とP-70 Havoc 13機の夜間戦闘機がCAPしていました。Beaufighter VIfは昭和18年1月から配備され始める新顔です。build rateがどのくらいかは知りませんが、1月21日までに配給された全機をここのCAPに振り向けたんだろうと思います。初めて夜間戦闘機と対戦した1月17日のインパ－ル空襲の時には気付きませんでしたが、CAPの中にレーダーを装備した夜戦がいると”Some CAP have air radar”とコンバットリポートに報告されるようです。

連合軍の夜戦との戦闘で百式重爆は8機撃墜され、2機がOps lossになりました。加えて対空砲によって4機が撃墜され、合計で14機を失いました。対空砲でこんなに落とされることはこれまでありませんでしたから、夜戦の攻撃でダメージを受けた機体に、対空砲がとどめを刺したということなんだろうと思います。この14機の犠牲で得られた戦果はAirbase hits 3、Runway hits 7とP-66 Vanguardを地上で3機破壊したのみです。これってどうなんでしょう。重慶を昼間爆撃するのはP-38なんかのCAPがいてさらに危険ですから、連合軍の夜戦の数がさらに多くならないうちに夜間爆撃を続行すべきなのかどうか。でも一回に14機も爆撃機を失う作戦はsustainableとはいえませんよね。中国戦線での地上部隊の数は中国軍の方が圧倒的に多く、このまま制空権まで失うようだと人海戦術によって海に追い落とされちゃうんじゃないかと心配です。困ったもんだ。

ラバウルにもB-24D Liberator 35機が7波に分かれて来襲。二式水戦(A6M2-N Rufe) 10機と零戦52型乙(A6M5b Zero) 11機と二式複戦(Ki-45 KAIa Nick) 4機の迎撃で、地上への被害はRunway hits 1のみでした。でもあいかわらず迎撃した戦闘機の被害は大きく、15機を失っています。

ビルマでは東部のラシオに52機(Liberator II 10、B-17E Fortress 12、B-24D Liberator 23、B-25C Mitchell 17)が12波に分かれて来襲。ここにはCAPをあげていないので、自由に爆撃されました。地上への被害はAirbase hits 3、Airbase supply hits 1、Runway hits 14。ラシオはカルカッタからかなり遠いビルマ東部に位置し、昨夜はThunderstormsと悪天候だったこともあり、この程度の命中弾で済んだのでしょう。でも、日本側はなまじレーダー装備のない戦闘機で迎撃するから戦闘機を撃墜されるわけですから、CAPがいなくてもこの程度の被害で済むのなら、自由に爆撃させた方が得策かもと思わせる数字ではあります。
