B-17E Fortressを空戦で2機撃墜

昭和18年3月9日、昨晩もラングーンに空襲がありました。以前のエントリーでも書きましたが、ラングーンに戦闘機を配置して夜間のCAPを指示してもちっとも飛んでくれません。仕方がないので、隣のペグーに戦闘機を配置してラングーンへのLRCAPを指示しました。LRCAPに従事させる割合が小さいと、ラングーン上空のCAPの機数が少なすぎて、爆撃機と戦えない日が続きました。そこで、昨晩は一個戦隊に100%のLRCAPを指示してみました。

2波の空襲のうち、第一波には32機が誘導されました。リプレイを見ると、44分も前に探知しているのに、この第一波の迎撃には間に合っていないもようで、この辺は本当に不可解。そのかわり、スクランブルした32機は、第2波のB-17E Fortress 6機と空戦しました。爆撃機6機に戦闘機32機が挑んで、結果は3機のKi-44-IIa Tojoが撃墜され、B-17E Fortressは2機の損傷でした。ただTrackerをみると、B-17E FortressもA2Aによる損失が2機あるとのこと。B-17を空戦で撃墜できることはほとんどないので、そういう意味では上出来。ただ、その戦果を得るために、12機のKi-44-IIaとパイロットのKIA 1名、WIA 5名という多大な代価を支払わされ、sustainableではない感じです。しかも連合軍はラングーン空襲に本腰を入れてきていて、滑走路のダメージ12、空港施設のダメージ58と、やはり飛行場閉鎖の危機が続いています。

エスピリッツサントのVanua Lavaの西のヘクスに小さなコンボイが発見され、ルンガから一式陸攻が攻撃しました。 雷撃で、Pacific S Cargo級(tonnage 1700)のxAKL Patis(VP 2)とPC-461 173’SC級(tonnage 450)のSC Adroit(VP 2)の2隻を撃沈しました。ただし、この戦果を挙げるために、A6M2が5機、G4M2 Bettyが2機とパイロットのKIA 4名、MIA 3名の損失を被りました。xAKL一隻とSC一隻とP-40K Warhawk一機との引き替えでは割りが悪すぎます。このヘクスに東向きに移動するTFがいるのは不自然な気もして、沈んでもいいような小さな艦船を餌にして、ゼロ戦と一式陸攻の数をすり減らす連合軍側の作戦なのかもと勘ぐりたくなる感じです。
