昭和18年4月11日も、爆撃に引き続いてミートキーナとバーモで陸戦がありました。バーモにはさらに77th Chindit Brigadeが空挺降下したようで、昨日より多い2347名によるshock attackでバーモは陥落してしまいました。昨日の陸戦や爆撃によるdisruptionなどの影響もあって、fort 1は役立ちませんでした。もっと早くからここにも塹壕を掘っておかなければいけなかったと反省しています。ミートキーナの方も、今日の攻撃でfortificationが2に低下しました。今日のオッズをみると次(明日かも)の攻撃での陥落は避けられない状況です。
これまで、連合軍爆撃機の威力についてはさんざん体験させられてきました。この爆撃による陸上部隊の被害を少しでも減らすためには、平地ヘクスではなく森林やジャングルのヘクスにいることが重要です。中部ビルマは平原なので、大部隊を配置して防御しようとしても爆撃ですり減らされてしまうでしょう。そう考えると、バーモに続いてミートキーナも陥落するとなると、ジャングルヘクスであるKathaの重要性をあらためて認識させられます。Kathaにも増援を送らないと。
バーモの陥落後、バーモにいた部隊は東南の山岳ヘクスに退却しました。マニュアル15.3 GROUND UNIT SUPPLYには
地上部隊の移動経路を設定したり、サプライが陸上を輸送される経路を設定する時には、supply valueという数値が算出される。この数値は、基地から目的地にサプライや地上部隊が移動する経路をたどって算出される。この数値は、目的のヘクスへの地上部隊の移動が可能かどうかを決定するのにつかわれたり、目的のヘクスへサプライを輸送する途中で輸送コストとしてどのくらいのサプライが消費されてしまうかを決定するのに使われる。
あるヘクスに向けて地上部隊を移動させるように指示するには、有効なサプライの補給を確保するために、その移動の経路によって算出されたsupply valueが正の値でなければならない。地上部隊は、現在地から目的地まで、supply valueが最も大きくなるような経路をたどって移動する。サプライが自動的に輸送されるには、supply valueが0よりも大きくなければならない。supply valueが大きいほど、サプライは頻繁に輸送され、途中で消費されるサプライの量は少なくて済む。
とあります、バーモはラシオからサプライを補給されていた地点だと思います。上記のルールから地上部隊の行軍のルートはサプライ輸送のルートと同じになるはずで、実際にラシオからバーモへ工兵部隊を行軍させると、trailに沿って移動し、西南側のヘクスからバーモに到達しました。当然、退却のルートも行軍の時と同じ仕様で、trailに沿って退却するものとばかり思っていました。ところが、東南側ヘクスに退却したので驚きました。マニュアル15.8 BURMA ROADには
もし、 TsuyungとLedoの間、またはTsuyungとRangoonの間のルートのrailやroadやtrail上に日本軍のユニットがなければ、連合軍側は一日に500ポイントのサプライをTsuyungで入手することができる。
と書かれています。TsuyungとLedoの間にはtrailもないヘクスが存在するので、マニュアルには上記のように書かれていますが、現在のバージョンのWitP AEではレド公路を設定することができません。TsuyungとRangoonの間のビルマ公路の方はrailやroadやtrailで結ばれているので、このルート上から日本側が排除されてしまえば、開通してしまいます。バーモから退却して来たヘクスはこのビルマ公路上にあるので、ラシオと合わせてここを占拠し続けるようにすべきかも知れません。
