昭和19年1月19日、moonlight 100%で前日と同じく夜間空襲たけなわ。重慶へは九七重爆(Ki-21-IIa Sally) 20機と百式重爆(Ki-49-IIa Helen) 43機が9波に分かれて侵入。11機のP-38G Lightningの迎撃を受けて九七重爆1機が撃墜されましたが、Runway hits 5発と昨日の5倍の戦果をあげることができました。前日に引き続き、昨晩もSevere stormsという悪天候だったことが、43機で5発という戦果の乏しさにつながったのでしょう。
ラバウルへも前日と同じように4波の夜間空襲。B-24D Liberator 21機を二式水戦(A6M2-N Rufe) 11機と零戦52型(A6M5 Zero) 2機と二式複戦(Ki-45 KAIa Nick) 4機が迎撃しました。飛行場への命中弾はAirbase hits 4発、Runway hits 3発に食い止めましたが、4機以上が撃墜され、Ops lossや地上での撃破も少なからずありました。
連合軍のビルマへの昼間の爆撃の目標は前々日のミートキーナ、前日のKathaと南下して、今日はその南のShweboが目標でした。このShweboはビルマ中部の根拠地ですが、大きな飛行場のあるマグエ、メイクテーラから少し離れているので、以前はマグエとメイクテーラのCAPの覆域に含めないでいることがふつうでした。連合軍がP-38でsweepしてから爆撃するという定石をきちんと守って攻撃して来るようなら、sweeperにCAPの戦闘機が撃墜されるばかりになってしまうから、それを避けるためです。でも難敵P-38はすべて重慶に出張しているのか、このところ連合軍は爆撃前のsweepを省いています。そこでマグエとメイクテーラのCAPのrangeを1だけ大きくしてShweboも覆域に含めることにしておきました。
でもまあ、本当のところ、この時期にビルマ中部にまで昼間の爆撃があるとは思っていなかったので、リプレイにShweboが映った時にはびっくりしました。やってきのは3波77機の爆撃機(Blenheim IV 19、Blenheim VD 32、Hudson IIIa 12、Wellington Ic 14)で、Hurricane IIc Trop 32機が護衛についていました。Shweboにはレーダーが配備されていないので、敵機来襲の6分、3分、2分前になってようやく監視哨が発見しました。それでも二式戦23機(Ki-44-IIa Tojo 18、Ki-44-IIb Tojo 5)が迎撃して、Hurricane IIc Trop 14機を含めて20機ほど撃墜したようです。
しかしこういったエピソードがあっても、ご覧のとおり今日の損失機数は日本側51機に対して連合軍側30機と圧倒的に負けています。四発爆撃機に迎撃機は撃墜され、投下された爆弾で地上でも破壊されるので夜間爆撃のある日はずっとこんな感じの被害です。
シドニーからはるかに東へ22ヘクスほどの南太平洋で、SS I-171がxAK Bellerophon(VP 12. tonnage 6100)を撃沈しました。実は前日、この撃沈したヘクスから西3ヘクスの地点に東航する連合軍TFが発見されました。近くにいた伊35潜搭載の零式小型水偵がみつけたのだと思われます。この連合軍TFがそのまま東に進むようなら迎撃も可能かなと考えて、すこし北側にいた伊171に移動を命じておいたところ、うまく接触・撃沈できました。零式水偵搭載の潜水艦は他の潜水艦と組み合わせて使うようにしていて、今回と同じように発見したTFを攻撃できるように指示するようにしています。ただ接触できても攻撃できなかったり、逆に護衛の艦艇に発見されて攻撃されたりなどうまくいかないことが多く、こんな風に作戦が成功するととてもうれしいもの。こういうささやかな幸せが、日本側をもって大戦中盤から後半をプレイし続けるには必要です。

開戦から５月になっても
いまだ屈強な要塞ですＴＴ
飛行機、エンジン、車輌工場と研究開発ラインは拡張が必要だと思います。
シンガポールは難物ですね。
5個師団くらい投入しないとかなり時間がかかります。
でもシンガポールを利用できないと、南方の資源の還送が難しいので、どうしても占領しないと、
ご武運をお祈りいたします。
