昭和18年3月2日、昨晩もラングーンに3波にわたる夜間空襲がありました。天気はSevere stormsだったのですが、しっかりCAPが飛んでくれました。四発爆撃機は落ちず、CAPが撃墜される傾向は変わらず、また地上で1機のKi-44-IIa Tojoが破壊されましたが、それでもCAPがいるとやはり被害は少なくなるようです。ラングーンにいる417分隊のengineerの活躍により、Airfield runaway damageは0に、Airfield service damageも15まで減りました。この感じだと、ラングーン飛行場を放棄する必要が当面はなさそうです。
ルンガにいる陸攻が今日はVanua Lavaを攻撃しました。先日のVaikoroと違ってここには戦闘機が30機以上配備されているので、かなりの犠牲が予想されます。なので、昨日もセーブファイルを送った後にベッドの中で、Vanua Lavaに行かないように陸攻隊のMaximum Rangeを11に減らしておくべきだったかなと思い返していました。リプレイを見ながら、やはりそうしておくべきだったことが判明。
Vanua Lavaには戦闘機飛行隊が4つ配備されていました。戦闘機の強さにはかなり自信があるようで、F4U-1 Corsairの一部は”Training flight from VMF-222 has been caught up in attack”と表示され、最前線で訓練をしていました。護衛のA6M2 Zero 30機に対して、CAPはF4F-4 Wildcatが9機とF4U-1 Corsairが15機。A2AとFlakにより、A6M2 Zeroが14機、G4M1 Bettyが4機、G3M2 Nellが4機撃墜されました。パイロットもKIAが7名、WIAが3名、MIAが8名と多数の死者が出ました。それに対して連合軍戦闘機は一機も落ちていないようです。また、BB Washingtonを攻撃したのですが、命中は一発だけで、それも”HIt! but no explosion”。航空魚雷でも不発があるんですね。甚大な被害で全く戦果が無く、まるで史実の日本軍のような、悲惨な一日でした。

いつも拝見しています。
航空戦のことでお尋ねしたいのですが。
このゲームでは飛行機の高度が空戦に影響するようで、高いほど有利とのことです。
戦闘機は常に最高限度にするのが得策になる理屈です。
・CAPの場合、こちら側が最高度に位置する一方、攻撃側が高度を低くしていたとき、会敵のチャンスを逸する（又はチャンスの確率が低くなる）ことはないのでしょうか？
今回の南太平洋での航空戦の場合、高度16000フィートでの戦いのようですが、
・日本側はどのくらいの高度に設定していたのでしょう。
・護衛機は爆撃機と同じ高度でなければ護衛してくれないそうなので、陸攻も最高度に設定するのが空戦被害を少なくするする上では得策になると思いますが、いかがでしょう。
・その場合、爆撃精度に影響が出るのでしょうか？

・CAPが低高度の敵を見過ごしたり会敵を逸することはありえないという旨のdevの人の発言をどこかで読んだような記憶があります。
・このゲームの仕様もそうなっているだろうと感じます。例えば、昭和18年3月11日のラングーン昼間空襲。CAPのA6M2 Zero 32810フィート、B-17E 9000フィートですが、会敵に支障はなかったと思います。
・今回の南太平洋の航空戦で、日本側は高度15000フィートに設定していました。
・来襲する爆撃機と護衛戦闘機よりも高いところにCAPがいて、降下しながら攻撃できることが有利なのだと理解しています。陸攻の高度を高くしても、在空中のCAPより低い高度で侵入すれば、CAP側の有利さはそれほど減じないだろうと思います。ただ、より高い高度で侵入すれば、敵機侵入を探知してからスクランブルしてくる戦闘機に迎撃される頻度は減るでしょうね。
爆撃精度は、雷撃するか、爆撃するかで違うと思います。
・雷撃の場合には、艦船に魚雷を発射する高度は100~200フィートぐらいに決まっていると思うので、巡航から雷撃のアプローチに入るまでをどの高度に設定しておいても、攻撃決定率自体には影響がないだろうと思います。
・爆撃の場合は高くするほど、爆弾が艦船に命中しにくくなってしまうはずです。少なくとも地上の目標に対する爆撃では、6000と9000と12000フィートで戦果が違うことを実感しています。
