某巨大掲示板のスレにMIssion speedとCruise speedの違いを問う質問にレスがつかず放置されているのに気付きました。質問して答えてもらえないって悲しいことなので、回答を書き込もうとしたら規制されてるって表示されて書けませんでした。きっとほかにも回答を試みた人がいてこの規制っていうのに引っかかってレスがついていないのでしょう。質問した人がこのブログを見ているかどうかは不明ですが、私なりの回答(初稿ではCruiseとMissionを勘違いして逆にしてありました。コメントでご指摘を受け、訂正しました)をすると、
- Cruise speedを指示したTFは常に最も経済的な速度で航行する。この速度は故障の発生しにくい速度でもあるので、損傷のひどい艦船を回航するのに最適。
- Mission speedを指示したTFもふだんは最も経済的な速度で航行する。しかし必要があれば、速度を上げる。例えば、敵の気配を察知すると、輸送船やタンカーTFだと速度を上げて逃げるし、水上戦闘TFやASW TFだと速度を上げて敵に接近する。特段の理由がなければ、TFにはこのMission speeddを指定すべき。
となります。さて、昨日のエントリーで12月29日に中国戦線でP-38にしてやられた事件に触れ、P-38対策は困難で、sweep任務の戦闘機を爆撃機に先行させるようにするくらいかなと書きました。昭和17年12月31日、広東から桂林空襲を計画しました。まず、午前中に一式戦二型(Ki-43-IIa Oscar) 30機がsweepを行いました。30機がまとまってsweepできればいいのですが、sweepは2波に分かれやすい仕様になっているようで、27機と3機に分かれてsweepしました。桂林上空ではP-38F Lightning 25機と、P-38G Lightning 25機の合計50機がLRCAPしていました。50機もいるということは、重慶に配置されているP-38全機に桂林へのLRCAPを指示したのでしょうね。それにしてもどうして今日桂林に日本の空襲があることが分かってしまうのか。私の攻撃のパターンが完全に読まれてしまっているようです。まずい。
sweepした一式戦二型は13機(空戦で11機、Ops loss 2機)を喪失。今日のP-38の損失機数は13機(F型 9機、G型 4機)で、やはりG型の方が手強いようです。また午後にも空戦がありましたが、午後の戦闘はやられっぱなしだったので、P-38の損失のほとんどは午前のsweepによるものだろうと思います。格上の機種を相手に一式戦二型がそれなりによく戦えた理由のひとつはsweep>CAPの有利さがあったこと。もう一つは、高度6000フィートでsweepさせたことかなと思っています。P-38は高度30000フィートでCAPしていました。戦闘機同士の空戦では高所に位置している側がdive and zoomを生かせて有利に戦えます。でもP-38と一式戦を比較して一式戦が優れているところは低空でのmanueverぐらいなのであえて6000フィートで行かせてみました。
午前のsweeperとの戦いの後も桂林上空にはP-38F Lightning 12機とP-38G Lightning 24が残っていました。ここに一式戦一型(Ki-43-Ic Oscar) 12機の護衛で九七重爆(Ki-21-IIa Sally) 11機と百式重爆(Ki-49-IIa Helen) 41機が向かいました。いかにも護衛の戦闘機の数が少く、爆撃機も3波にわかれてしまって、うち2波には護衛がつきませんでした。結果、目を背けたくなるようなターキーシュートの連続。午後の空襲部隊のうち、一式戦一型8機、九七重爆7機、百式重爆39機を失う大惨事となってしまいました。午前の空戦ともあわせると、今日桂林に向かった日本機94機のうち67機を失ったことになります。パイロットのMIA 19名、WIA 3名、KIA 40名!と靖国も大忙し。爆撃の戦果はAirbase hits 2、Airbase supply hits 1、Runway hits 8とごくわずかでした。大晦日の戦闘がこんな状況で、1943年は暗い新年になってしまいました。
広東配置の重爆隊は再建に一週間近くかかりそうです。というか、これほどの被害を受けても一週間で再建できてしまうことの方が異常で、航空戦のテンポが速すぎるのはこのゲームの欠点の一つではあります。さらに戦闘機隊の方はもう少し早く再建できそうなので、二式戦に機種転換してsweep、sweep、sweep。P-38のbuild rateはそれほど速くないはずなので、陸軍パイロットと陸軍機を安売りするみたいで申し訳ないのですが、一式戦や二式戦とP-38の交換レートが2対1くらいまでなら望むところ、と前向きに考えることにします。

mission speedとcruise speedの説明が逆になっているのではと思いますがいかがでしょうか。
以前、貴ブログでTFの速力について解説したフォーラム記事を読んだとき、私は
mission speed=普段は経済速度で巡航、戦闘時・待避時は直ちに増速できる。
(ボイラーに全て火が入っており、蒸気圧を上げている状態をシミュレート)
cruise speed=普段は経済速度でジュンク、戦闘・待避時に増速できるが、時間がかかる。
(いくつかのボイラーが停まっており、蒸気圧を上げるのに時間がかかる状態をシミュレート)
と理解しておりました。
質問したのは私です。

TFの挙動がよくわからないときにあり、その原因が速度設定かもと思いましたが、どちらも基本速度は同じようですので違うようです。
予定よりも時々遅い時があるんですよね。

cruise speed と mission speed の解説は単純に逆だと思います。マニュアルにも記述があったはずです。
実はこのゲームは発売当時からプレイしていて、古くはDOSで動いていたPacific War時代からのこのシリーズのファンです。(年がばれる)
もっとも最近はプレイするよりデータベースをいじっていることが多いですが。
