空襲ではウエーク島在泊艦船(主目標はCVホーネット)にちっとも被害を与えることができていない(被害どころか、そもそも攻撃に飛んでくれない)ので、昭和17年12月10日、ウエーク島にSSX Ha-10を派遣しました。ところがリプレイではしょっぱなから触雷音がしてSSX Ha-10沈没の報告です。特殊潜航艇は役に立ちませんね。防衛目的ならつかいどころがあるのかどうか。
昨日はブログを書きませんでしたが、ウエーク島にPTボートが召喚されていることが報告されていました。そのまま上陸船団を突っ込ませるのはためらわれるので、PTボート掃討のために駆逐艦2隻のTFを派遣しました。コンバットイベントの.txtファイルには
とあって、PTボートと遭遇はしたようです。でも先日のMeraukeの時と同様に戦闘を避けたようで、駆逐艦とはいえども、夜のフェーズでPTボートとやりあいたくはないご様子。昼間に会敵できるように調整して送り出さないとだめなんでしょう、きっと。そして、運の悪いことにDD荒潮がMK 16 Mineに接触してしまいました。Sys 16, Flt 43(23), Eng 8(4)のダメージを受け、なすすべもなく撤退です。このゲームの日本側の艦船は機雷の被害がとっても多くて困っています。昨日もまだMoonlight 14%でしたので、暗いから気付かずに触雷しちゃうんでしょうか。
Task Force 176 encounters enemy Task Force at 136 , 98
昨日、ウエーク島の南西で上陸船団がSS Pogyに接触されました。陸戦隊を載せたAK Hawaii Maruに向けて発射された魚雷は幸い2本ともはずれてくれましたが、ウエーク島に向けてAKが接近していることは連合軍側にばれてしまいました。そのまま今日上陸決行となることを連合軍側は予想して、在泊艦船を出港させたもののようです。SSX Ha-10を送り出したI-16がウエーク島の北東のヘクスでパトロールしていたところ、CV Hornetが出現しました。潜望鏡の視野の中の空母は大きく見えますが、きっとこの光景を目にするのは潜水艦長の夢なんだと思います。以前の空襲の被害でホーネットは煙を上げていました。I-16の放った6本の魚雷のうち1本が命中し、弾薬庫の誘爆からホーネットは沈没しました。しかし今日の沈没艦リストにはホーネットの名前がありません。かわりにCVイラストリアスがウエーク島のヘクスで自沈したと載せられていました。イラストリアスはウエーク島海戦でもみかけなかったし、これが何を意味しているのかはまったく分かりません。
昼になって、Roi-namurから九六陸攻(G3M2 Nell) 20機、一式陸攻(G4M1 Betty) 27機がウエーク島の地上部隊の爆撃に向かいました。12月6日の艦砲射撃でかなり痛めつけておいたはずですが、高度6000フィートの爆撃では対空砲火がきびしく、九六陸攻1機、一式陸攻2機の損失を出してしまいました。そのわりに戦果はNon Combatが8 disabled、Guns lost 9と僅少でしたが、敵地上部隊のfatigue、disruptionを少しでも増やせば、上陸する陸戦隊の助けになるとおもって我慢します。昨日までこのRoi-Namurの陸攻隊はウエーク島空襲に飛んでくれませんでした。昨日まではPrimary MissionをNaval Attackに、Secondary MissionをGround Attackにしてありましたが、今日はPrimary MissionをGround Attackに変更したので飛んでくれたのか？つまり、Secondary Missionは午後に行われるわけですが、Roi-Namurとウエーク島の距離が16ヘクスあるので、Secondary Missionとして実施するには時間の関係で遠すぎたりするんでしょうか？
機動部隊からもゼロ戦(A6M5b Zero) 44機、九七艦攻(B5N2 Kate) 22機、九九艦爆(D3A1 Val) 8機、彗星(D4Y1 Judy) 7機がウエーク島空襲に向かいました。CAPはいないだろうと思われたので、赤城艦戦隊には高度1000フィートで地上攻撃を指示してみました。先ほどの陸攻も対空砲火による被害を受けましたが、低空での地上攻撃を指示されたゼロ戦も高度100フィートまで降下して機銃掃射と60kg爆弾の投下を行ったので合計5機(KIA 2名)の損失を来してしまいました。防御のしっかりした戦闘爆撃機以外がやるべきことではないですね、これは。得られた教訓に比較すると、高価な授業料でした。そして艦戦・艦攻・艦爆あわせての空襲の戦果はNon Combatが8 disabledだけでやはり情けないほど僅かなものでした。
その後、ウエーク島の北西のヘクスにいたPTボートをゼロ戦(A6M5b Zero) 30機が攻撃しました。PTボート対策として駆逐艦2隻を派遣するほかに、龍驤艦戦隊(ウエーク島海戦後に赤城に増援)に高度100フィートでNaval Attackを指示してありました。60kg爆弾は全部はずれたみたいですが、機銃掃射でみかけた3隻のPTボートのうち2隻を撃沈することができました。ほんとは全部沈めてほしかったんですが、こんなもんでしょう。あと、発見された3隻が連合軍がウエーク島に召喚したPTボートのすべてだとすると、これまで連合軍がウエーク島にPTボートを召喚しなかった理由が分かるような気がします。PTボートはニューギニア沿岸の根拠地に艦砲射撃対策として多数配置されていますから、きっと在庫ゼロで召喚できなかったんでしょう。
その後、ウエーク島の西2ヘクスの地点でCM TsugaruがSS Grunionの攻撃を受け、魚雷一本命中でSys 14, Flt 35(27), Eng 0, Fire 2のダメージを受けました。津軽はウエーク島が首尾よく占領できたら、サプライや飛行場整備部隊などの後続する部隊を順調に揚陸するためのShipping Regimentを載せた輸送船団の護衛をしていました。昨日はAKの存在がばれましたが、今日はコンバットリポートからxAKの存在も連合軍に明らかになってしまいました。
機雷は心配ですが、PTボートは減ったし明日は上陸作戦を決行します。陸戦隊1500人でうまくいくかどうかは上陸してみないと分からないところ。攻略失敗に備えて、トラックにいる歩兵師団を3分割し、その一つを輸送船に乗せてウエーク島に向かわせました。あと、ウエーク島を脱出して南東4ヘクスのところにいる連合軍TFも、艦種は不明ながらなんとか撃滅したいところです。
もうひとつの焦点の中国柳州では今日も連合軍の攻撃がありました。今日もオッズ比6対1で持ちこたえることができましたが、破壊されるdevice数はやはり日本側の方が多い状態が続いています。いつまでもつのやら。
