昭和17年12月7日、引き続きウエーク島を取り囲んでいますが、今日は空母からゼロ戦がsweepしただけで、ウエーク島空襲を指示してあった爆撃機は飛んでくれませんでした。
かわりに、昨日に引き続いてダーウィンからニューギニア南岸のMeraukeにいる連合軍TFの攻撃に一式陸攻(G4M1 Betty)31機が向かいました。昨日と違って今日はゼロ戦(A6M2) 35機が護衛についていました。しかし連合軍側も昨日の攻撃で用心したとみえて、Merauke上空には35機(Hurricane XIIb 9、Kittyhawk III 7、P-40E Warhawk 18)のCAPが待ちかまえていました。護衛戦闘機がいれば少しは違った結果が得られるかなと思ったのですが、魚雷を投下することのできた一式陸攻は9機だけで、戦果はありませんでした。かわりに、一式陸攻が26機撃墜され、ゼロ戦も11機(A2Aで8、Ops loss 3)の損失となってしまいました。CAP側は4機の損失のみで、完敗でした。連合軍戦闘機のいるところに陸攻を行かせるのは無理筋。輸送船を狙っての攻撃は絶対にだめで、損害を顧みずに主力艦を狙うのは時と場合によってはありかもしれませんが。ウエーク島方面ではその方針を徹底して戦っているのに、変な色気を出して大敗を喫した一幕でした。

中国戦線の柳州は中国軍も息切れしたようで一休み。柳州の東隣のヘクスでは攻撃されましたが、ここは森林なので今のところは大丈夫な様子です。今日の大きな戦闘はこんなところでしたが、一つ気づいたことがあります。この間の柳州での戦闘で、67th Ind Infantry Bnと68thth Ind Infantry Bnの2ユニットが破壊されてしまいました。この2ユニットに69th Ind Infantry Bnが合体するとHong Kong Def Forceに変身することができます。いつかいい時期が来たら合体させようと思っていたのですが、構成ユニットのうちの2つが破壊されてがっかり。PPを支払えば破壊された2ユニットを召喚することができる(必要なPPは90の場合と495の場合がありました。495は高すぎるので見送って、次のターンに召喚を試みると90と表示されました。さらに別のターンで試みると別の数値もみられるかもしれませんので召喚するなら安いときがオススメ)ので、召喚して香港守備隊に変身させるかどうか思案中でした。
でもあらためて今日第69独立歩兵大隊のインフォメーションスクリーンをみると、香港守備隊に変身させるRebuild Unitボタンがアクティブになっていました。香港という地名がついていますが、広東でもOKでした。また他の部隊がいなくなっても単独で変身できる仕様のようです。変身してから時間が経過すればサプライを消費して他の2ユニット分のdeviceも補充されますから、どうしても3つのユニットを別々に運用したいという事情がない限り、単独で変身させた方がお得だと思います。なお、第69独立歩兵大隊を香港守備隊に変身させると、他に2ユニットのPPを支払っての召喚は選択できなくなっていました。また香港守備隊のTOEには独立歩兵大隊には含まれていないdevice、15cm T89 4門と10cm T92 Gun 2門が含まれていますが、この2種の砲には移動できないことを示すアステリスク(＊＊device名＊＊)がついていないので、移動可能なのではと思います(間違ってたらごめんなさい)。
