昭和17年8月13日になりました。史実では数日前にガダルカナル島上陸戦でしたが、いまのところ南東方面で連合軍の上陸作戦の気配はありません。そのかわりにビルマ方面での空襲が頻回です。ハリケーンやブレニムだけでなく、南東方面ではちっとも出会わないP-38やB-25がこちらの航空作戦に参加しています。アメリカ陸軍機まで動員しているということは、当面の重点をビルマにおいているようです。
御覧の通り、今日は戦闘機119機と爆撃機122機が10波にわたってミートキーナを訪問してくれました。おかげで滑走路のダメージ72、飛行場施設のダメージ82で、ミートキーナ飛行場は開店休業状態。工兵は68配置してありますが、嵐の日以外は連日の爆撃なのでこんな状態です。配置していたairgroupはかなり前にマンダレー以南の基地に避難させました。
ミートキーナには75mm T88 AA gunを27門配備していますが、爆撃機4機にダメージを与えただけ。Intel画面をみると、ブレニムIVが一機Flak lossになっているので、4機中の一機だけは使用不能になったようです。Flakや工兵をもっと多数ミートキーナに配備することもできますが、そうするとMagweやマンダレーが手薄になってしまうのが考えどころ。
インド東部の主な連合軍の空軍基地はレド、インパール、Silchar、チッタゴンです。本当ならこれらの基地をsweepと爆撃で黙らせることができればいいのですが、ハリケーンが強力でsweepすると隼とゼロ戦の被害が無視できません。なので現在のところ、連合軍はミートキーナを、日本はアキャブを、おたがい戦闘機のいない飛行場を攻撃しています。9月に二式戦が生産可能になったら、すこしは違うのでしょうか。このままだと、雨期の終わる11月が不安。
