昭和18年4月12日、ミートキーナには5波のsweepと6波の爆撃がありました。そのあとの陸戦は22対1という惨憺たるオッズで、ミートキーナから叩き出されてKatha方向に退却することになりました。この惨敗は112連隊がすでにぼろぼろになっていたせいもありますが、やはりThunderstormsという悪天候の影響があるのではと感じてしまいます。
ミートキーナの東に中国軍が2部隊います。ご覧のとおりTroop 0で抜け殻みたいなユニットです。日本側の飛行場爆撃でサプライを破壊されて中国国内はかなりのサプライ不足の状態になっているはずなので、ミートキーナ陥落を機に、インドからのサプライで部隊の充足をはかるつもりなのでしょう。HRでrestricted unitが国境を越えるにはPPを支払うことにしてありますが、こういう抜け殻みたいなユニットだと、HQの変更に要するPPがただみたいなものでしょうから、抜け目ない動きです。
きのう陥落したバーモの英軍部隊をタイのChiang MaiからKi-49-IIa Helenが爆撃に行きましたが、これは不用意な行動でした。こちらのやりそうなことをお見通しの連合軍はP-38G LightningをLRCAPに上げていて、7機も撃墜されました。また、護衛の戦闘機をつけたつもりはなかったのですが、A6M2が11機バーモに飛んで行って、1対2のスコアとなりました。このA6M2はモールメンでCAPをしていた部隊ですが、なにかPrimary missionを指示しないとCAPを指示できないので、EscortをPrimary missionにしてありました。バーモからの距離は、チェンマイよりもモールメンの方がだいぶ遠いし、高度の設定がKi-49-IIa Helenは6000メートル、A6M2は30000メートルとだいぶ違うし、護衛に飛ぶとはおもいませんでした。でも、陸海軍の違いからかcoordinationはまったくとれず、各個撃破された形になってしまいました。
R&Dが奏功してKi-44-IIb Tojoの生産開始が、昭和18年6月になりました。Ki-44-IIb TojoのR&Dラインは、浜松に規模24のものがあって483ターンに修理完了しました。もう一つ横浜にも規模30のラインがありますが、こちらは修理済み26、修理中4です。また、前橋の規模9のラインが286ターンから364ターンまで、八戸の規模20のラインが267ターンから364ターンまでKi-44-IIb TojoのR&Dを行い、365ターンからはKi-44-IIc TojoのR&Dに禁酒変更しました。現在493ターンなので、試作機は合計97.8機=((493-482)x24+(364-285)x9+(364-266)x20)/30生産したことになります。
