昭和17年2月21日、パレンバンに揚陸中の日本の船団が、パレンバン西方6ヘクスに忍び寄ってきた連合軍のCV TFから空襲を受け、主に輸送船ですが24隻沈没、15隻大破の大被害を受けました。シンガポールから一式陸攻が飛んで、レキシントンに魚雷を一本命中させたのが日本側としては唯一の戦果でした。
サプライ以外の揚陸はだいたい済んでいて、地上部隊にはあまり被害はなかったようです。パレンバンでは今日も連合軍地上部隊からの砲撃があったので、彼我の戦力が分かりますが、これまでに揚陸した分とあわせると
- 日本側 94961名、砲1157門、車輌710両、修正前AV2995
- 連合軍 40572名、砲534門、車輌452両、修正前AV1747
WitP AEっていうゲームは少なくとも日本が南方資源地帯を確保して、その後をどうするかっていうところを楽しむゲーム、日本側としてはその後を苦しみを耐えるゲームだと思うのです。でも、この時期からパレンバンを焦点に彼我の大兵力を集めて苦戦するのではぜんぜん楽しくありません。パレンバン要塞化作戦は史実よりずっと早く日本に打撃を与える戦略ですが、今回は連合軍側が大成功というところ。なので彼我の実力差も考慮して、投了させてもらいました。
パレンバン要塞化作戦の存在は知っていて、そうされるのが一番嫌だったのに漫然とプレイしてしまった点が問題でした。いま思いつく反省点としては、
- 早いうちからパレンバンに3個師団も揚陸せず、そのうちの一個師団でもシンガポールに送って、シンガポールを1月の早いうちに落としておくべきだった。
- スマトラ島南部の東岸にはパレンバン以外に上陸敵地がありません。HRで禁止してはいなかったので、基地以外のヘクス、例えばDjambiの東などに揚陸させるべきだったかも。そうすれば沿岸砲による揚陸時の被害がなく、連合軍水上艦の殴り込みを受けにくく、シンガポールからのLRCAPをしやすいので。
- パレンバン要塞化対策としてバンカ島やDjambiに飛行場を建設すべきでした。
- マニュアルに揚陸速度は示されているのですから、明るくなる前に揚陸地点から離岸できるよう、一隻の輸送船には夜のうちに揚陸が終わる分の兵員・サプライしか載せない。

対戦ゲームで相手が格上と気づいたときの辛さは自分も少しは分かります。
ただ、これからスマトラ島の支配をめぐる大海戦が生起するのかと期待していただけにちょっと残念な結末です。
フォーラムを見ると1942年開始のキャンペーンも出るようですし、Blog主様の再出発を期待します。
