ビルマ防衛困難問題 その3

前々日・前日でとりあげた二つのスレを読んでみて、日本側のビルマ防衛困難問題の原因は、(1)史実以上の兵力を連合軍が対ビルマ攻勢に準備できること、(2)インド・ビルマ間のサプライ輸送が容易なこと、の2点に絞られるようです。またこの二つのうちでは、前者をより根本的な原因と考えるべきでしょう。その対策としては、 (1)優勢の昭和17年の夏まではインドに向けて攻勢を続けて連合軍に圧迫を加える、(2)史実以上の兵力をビルマに駐屯させること、の2つが挙げられています。

妙案という訳ではありませんが、私のPBEMでも「優勢の昭和17年の夏まではインドに向けて攻勢を続けて連合軍に圧迫を加え」るべきでした。振り返ると、ビルマ占領後に空からの攻撃はしましたが、安逸をむさぼって地上兵力は動かしませんでした。その気になればアキャブやレドの攻略くらいは何とかできたと思うので、反省しきり。特にアキャブにはヘクスサイドが2つしかないという指摘は印象的でした。確認してみると、アキャブの2ヘクス北のCox’s bazarもヘクスサイドが２つしかありません。陸上からの攻略はジャングルの行進に時間がかかるので、これらを狙った上陸作戦を早期に実施すべきところでした。これに気付かなかった自分の無能さに呆れます。

後悔先に立たず。 今となってはビルマの防衛の充実を考えるしかありません。現在ビルマには5個歩兵師団、2個歩兵聯隊、4個戦車聯隊、5個速射砲大隊などが配置されてますが、PPを考えるとモンスーン明けまでに中国・満州からあと2個歩兵師団の増援が可能です。一昨日のエントリーでは8個師団でも防衛できなかった人のレスがありましたから、増援した方が無難でしょうか。考えるところ。

対峙している連合軍の兵力はどれくらいなのか。スレでは史実のイギリスが緒戦の4ヶ月間に多数の兵力をむざむざと失ったことが書かれ、連合軍プレーヤーはそれを避けるであろうとされています。私のPBEMでは、シンガポールは1月2日に渡河上陸、1月10日に陥落と早かったのでマラヤから海路撤退できた兵力はあまり多くなかったと思われます。話題になっていた第3インド軍団やオーストラリア師団なども下記のコンバットリポートの通り、お縄にしました。まあ、一部は逃れたでしょうが、再建には時間がかかるでしょう。

ただ、シンガポール陥落に力を入れた分、ビルマの攻略が遅くなってしまったのかも知れませんが、ビルマではほとんどすべてのユニットに逃げられてしまっています。なのでそのビルマ軍団が補充と訓練を受けて秋にはAV1000程度に成長するのでしょう。また、インド北東部の現在の兵力量はこんな感じで、全部で4個師団はいるでしょう。また、後方にもいくつか師団がいるんでしょう。

この中ではチッタゴンのLCUがイギリス色ではなくてアメリカ色なのが目立ちます。チッタゴンにはAFVの数が多いので、アメリカの陸軍師団が駐屯しているのでしょう。数的には1個師団かな。
