そして、本日一番のがっかりはこれ。1月2日に連合軍空母をオーストラリア西岸沖で発見したことは潜水艦長の決断というエントリーに書きました。その対応にチモール島クーパンにいたmini KBを出撃させました。はじめはクーパンの哨戒機の傘から出ないでおこうかとも思ったのですが、虎穴に入らずんば虎児を得ずなので、遠出させてみました。今日のリプレイを見ていると午前のフェーズでここに連合軍TFが見えました。内心「やったね」と思い、いつmini KBからの攻撃が始まるかと楽しみにしていたのですが、午前も午後も攻撃はなく、陸戦フェーズになってしまい、上記の敗北をみるはめになってしまいました。まったく拍子抜けです。
彼我の距離は5ヘクスで雷撃も充分に可能な距離です。相手のTFにはCVEしかいないから、A6M2 Zeroを66機、B5N2 Kateを84機も搭載しているmini KBの飛行隊が怖れるべき相手ではないでしょう。またmini KBのヘクスの天候はclear skyなので離陸不能とも思えません。たしかに相手のTFの上空はextreme ocercastなので発見できないということはありえますが、攻撃に発進しない理由になるんでしょうか？mini KBの指揮官は南雲中将ですが、それがいけないの？うーん、謎です。
仕方がないので、明日の攻撃を期待して、相手のTFに向かって航海させることにしました。これで良かったでしょうか？連合軍もこのTFが水上機に見つけられたことは分かったはずです。その水上機を潜水艦搭載のGlenと思ってくれればいいのですが、艦載水上機の可能性も当然考慮に入れますよね。逃げる方向によっては逃げ切られてしまうかもしれないですよね。
