雷撃された貨物船の積み荷の被害

昭和18年1月27日、ASW戦闘は5回あり、日本の被害は以下の3隻。

• 父島北東でSS Tunnyに雷撃されてAden Cargo級のxAK Yae Maru(tonnage 4875)がそのまま沈没。
• ついで、父島南島沖でSS Flying FishにEhime Cargo級のxAK Eli Maru(tonnage 3425)が雷撃されました。ダメージはSys 12, Flt 85(50), Eng 12(5), Fire 5とひどい浸水被害です。最寄りの父島に向かわせましたが、8ヘクスもあるので沈むでしょう。Eli Maruはえりい(えりゐ)丸でしょうか。
• そして、トラックから9ヘクス北で、SS HerringにAden Cargo級のxAK Clyde Maruが雷撃されました。こちらのダメージはFlt 27(10)のみなのでこのままトラックに向かわせることにしました。クライド丸という名前は珍しい感じですが、造船所の多いスコットランドのクライド湾からとった名前でしょうね。

xAK Eli MaruもxAK Clyde Maruも南行きのサプライ満載の貨物船でした。雷撃された商船が2隻生き残っているターンは初めてで、比較してみて気づいたのですが、積載していたサプライがかなりダメージを受けて減ってしまうんですね。xAK Eli Maruは沈没寸前の被害なので無事なサプライは80トンしかありません。Flt 27(10)だけとダメージの少ないxAK Clyde Maruも4670トンのサプライのうち1969トンしか残っていなくて、驚きました。

1月21日以来、ひさしぶりにB-17がビルマ上空に登場しました。70機のB-17が飛行場爆撃に来襲したので、しばらくのブランクは南東方面への移動ではなく、大空襲準備のための休養だったようです。連合軍側はMyitkyina、Katha、Shweboへ、日本側はAkyabの飛行場を爆撃しましたが、表にしてみると規模の差、特に参加した爆撃機の数が段違いです。爆撃の効果に関しては、爆弾を投下した高度も影響しています。日本側はFlakの被害を受けないよう、12000フィートからです。
