昭和17年1月13日、CVL Shohoが就役しました。12機のA5M4 Claudeと9機のB5N1 Kateを搭載しているだけですが、パイロットの中にはエースも多く、これからA6M2に機種変換させて、Mini KBとしてつかいどころを考えたいと思います。
数日前から連合軍TFがボルネオ島南東沖のジャワ海でパトロールをしているのが眼につきました。今日は、バリクパパンでfuelを搭載するタンカーへの敵襲にそなえていた高雄・愛宕・摩耶をぶつけてみました。連合軍TFは3隻で、3隻ともAMCでした。さすがに特設巡洋艦ではほんものの条約型巡に抗すべくもなく、Chitral級AMC Corfu(tonnage 9610, VP 32)とFlower B-boat級AMC Cornwallis(tonnage 1250, VP4)は戦闘中に沈没。Shire級AMC Hector(tonnage 7720, VP 26)も被害甚大なので、間もなく沈むでしょう。日本側にはAMC Hectorの6インチ砲弾がDD Hibikiに一発命中しただけでした。ただし一発とはいっても駆逐艦にとっては強烈なパンチで、DD HibikiはSys 39, Flt 7(2), Eng 9と大きな被害を受けてしまいました。この戦闘のコンバットアニメーションを見ながら疑問に思ったことは、日本側の水上艦隊が出没していることは知っているはずなのに、なぜこの海域でパトロールさせていたのかということです。この3隻は開戦時ケニアのモンバサにいて、兵員輸送のコンボイを護衛して蘭印にやってきたのでしょうが。
この日、バリ島のデンパサール攻略部隊が上陸しました。バリ島の南側、インド洋を通って移動させたので、奇襲上陸となりました。連合軍の特設巡洋艦は、スンダ列島を攻略する船団がボルネオ島の東のマカッサル海峡からジャワ海経由で来ると思って、あそこでパトロールしていたのかも知れませんね。2波にわたってオランダ軍の航空攻撃があったのですが、さいわい無傷です。攻撃はdisruptionがおちつくまで数日待ってからになります。
連合軍はダーウインにいたタンカーをパースの方に避難させたようで、哨戒機が発見して、クーパンの九六陸攻と機動部隊からの攻撃がありました。護衛のBathurst級AM Latrobe(tonnage 625,VP 2)は即沈没し、Shell Type-A級TK Merula(tonnage 9700, VP 28)とBP Type-D級TK Marpessa(tonnage 8150, VP 23)も被害は大きく、じきに沈むと思われます。また、Tjilatjap沖の昨日のAO TAN4と同じヘクスで、I-157が TAN Aux級AO TAN3(tonnage 1750, VP 4)を撃沈しました。I-157は2日続けてのお手柄でした。
その後、加賀、飛龍、蒼龍、翔鶴、瑞鶴の空母5隻からなる機動部隊はダーウィンの港と飛行場を空襲して、disbandされていたPlatypus級AS Platypus(tonnage 3476, VP 11)とSm.Gouv Mar. AVP級AVP Bellatrix(tonnage 700, VP2)を沈めました。ASの撃沈はうれしいところ。ただ、7ヘクスの距離で攻撃隊を発進させたらしく、九七艦攻は全機800kg爆弾でしたが、九九艦爆は60kg爆弾2個の武装で攻撃していました。そのせいか、Airbase hits 1、Port hits 1、Port fuel hits 1とぱっとしません。偵察情報によると、ダーウインにはまだCAなどがいるらしいので、明日もう一度近寄って攻撃するつもりです。これらのCAがパース方面に遁走せずダーウインに停泊し続けているのは、きっと損傷しているからだと思います。損傷が大したことがなく、ダーウインからうって出て機動部隊に水上砲戦を挑むようなことがあるとまずい感じ。
KBを空母5隻編成にした理由のひとつは、赤城のSysダメージが7になっていたので修理のため。また、KBの居場所をばらしてしまったことで、連合軍が鬼の居ぬ間にマーシャル、ギルバートへのヒットエンドランを企むかも知れません。Mini KBと、CVL Shoho(連合軍も就航予定日が昭和17年1月26日±60日なのは知っているので)と赤城が、それに対する抑止力になるのではという目論見もあってです。
シンガポールのfortificationが強化されないよう、ジョホールバルから今日も空襲に行きました。港ではPacific S-Cargo級xAKL Tatung(tonnage 1700, VP2)とxAKL Lyemun、Coastal Cargo級xAKL Bust (tonnage 1050, VP 1)とxAKL Ipohの合計4隻を撃沈しました。飛行場ではDC-2を地上で2機破壊しました。DC-2はパレンバン要塞化のためにシンガポールから部隊を空輸しているのかと思われます。でも、必要なだけ生産できる日本側と違って、連合軍にとって輸送機は貴重なはず。特にHamp越えでインドから中国にサプライを輸送するには、輸送機が何機あっても足りないのではと思うのですがどうでしょう。私だったらSSを活用するのに必要で開戦時に多くは存在しないASという艦種は少なくともパースまで下げるでしょうし、またDC-2はこの時期、もっと後方でtrainingさせると思うのです。私は、他のゲームでも貴重なアイテムはもったいなくて使えず、最後まで死蔵してしまう方なのです。でも、今日の戦闘からも相手の人の考え方が自分とはかなり違うと再確認させられました。
