昭和17年1月27日、パレンバンでのサプライと陸兵の揚陸は75mm CD Gunや40mm Bofors AA Gun(Flakも上陸船団に砲撃するんですね)の反撃を受けながら続いています。損傷艦船が増えましたが、まだ沈没には至っていません(あした沈没しそうなのはありますが)。かわりに、揚陸を終えてカムラン湾へ帰投途中のxAP Kokuryu MaruがSS TrustyとSS Sauryに雷撃されて沈没しました。一本だけなら助かったのでしょうが、2回も命中させられるとだめですね。
パレンバンの入り口のヘクスでパトロール中のTFに16機のHurricane IIb Tropによる攻撃があり、DD ArashioにShell hits 9、DD OshioにShell hits 12と合計12発の命中が報告されました。Hurricane IIb Tropは戦闘機なのでリプレイでは高度100フィートでの機銃掃射が実施され、命中したのはどれも機銃弾です。ただ機銃弾とはいってもばかにできず、DD ArashioはSys 26、DD OshioはSys 15の被害を受けました。Flt, Eng, Fireダメージは0で、またSysダメージにもMajor damageはありませんでした。機銃弾だと上部構造が穴だらけになるということで、Sysのみにminorなダメージを受ける仕様なのでしょうね。
戦闘機による高度100フィートでの機銃掃射は、私も緒戦期の魚雷艇対策としては実施したことがありますが、戦艦を含んだ水上艦隊に対して命ずる気分にはなれません。その理由のひとつは、Hurricane IIb Tropは0.303インチ機銃12門でGun Value 24に対して、A6M2は20mm機関砲2門と7.7mm機銃2門でGun Value 12とすこし効果が劣るのかなと思われること。またもうひとつは、対空砲火による被害で開戦時に配備されている優秀なパイロットを失うことが心配だからです。今回の機銃掃射でも、16機のHurricane IIb Tropのうち1機撃墜、4機損傷で、TrackerをみるとFlakとOps lossで合計2機損失になっていました。A6M2のdurability 22に対して29としっかりした作りで、しかもArmor 1のHurricane IIb Tropでもこれですから、ゼロ戦や隼だと被害甚大となりそうな気がします。
139WH-3、L-212、CW-22、LB-30 Liberator、B-17D Fortress、B-17E Fortressなどの爆撃機が昨日も今日も対艦攻撃を行いましたが命中弾は0でした。お相手の方のHurricane IIb Tropに機銃掃射させたくなる気持ちも理解できます。でも、Hurricane IIb Tropの供給数はそんなに多くはないはずなので、ビルマの航空戦でゼロ戦や隼を落とすお仕事ではなく、こういう対艦攻撃ですり減らしてくれるのは歓迎です。
