オーストラリア北西のポート・ヘッドランドに連合軍コンボイ

昭和17年2月10日、SIGINTでパールハーバーの北東へ5ヘクスの地点に連合軍のTFの存在が報告されました。時々こうやってTFの位置を知らせてくれるのですが、航行中のTFの”Heavy Volume of Radio transmissions”の検出報告は初めての経験です。SIGINTからは位置が分かるだけで、TFの規模や艦種やどちらに向かって航行しているかは不明ですが、シアトル・パールハーバー航路上で、おそらくかなり規模の大きなコンボイなのでしょう。パールハーバーに向かっているようなら見逃すしかありませんが、北東に向かっているようなら2日後くらいに接触できるかもしれません。

オーストラリア北西部ですが、ダーウィンへの上陸作戦は兵力的に無理そうかなと考えています。というのも、ビルマの連合軍の防御が強力(というか、攻める日本側の兵力が少なすぎて)で、モールメンを攻略した後サルウィン川を越えられないでいます。1月5日に一度渡河したのですが、撃退されてしまったままなのです。まだシンガポールを占領できていませんから、ビルマに割ける余裕がないのが実態です。シンガポール攻略後は、ビルマとジャワの攻略が残っていますから、ダーウィンは無理かなと考えているわけです。
仕方がないので、とりあえずこのダーウィンとBroomeとDervyに連合軍が基地を拡張できないよう、チモール島クーパンから陸攻と九七重爆で空襲を加えています。クーパンに黄色い”!”がついているのはサプライ不足を表しています。本土からこういった南方までは輸送船で2週間近くかかるので、十数ターン以上先を読んで準備しておかなければなりませんが、私の能力不足から行き当たりばったりになってしまっています。考える要素の少ないゲームでも兵站を維持することが難しいんですから、史実の担当者は大変だったろうと感じます。あと、Reluctant Admiral modはふつうのグランドキャンペーンよりもサプライやHIの生産がすこしタイトになっているようです。


ダーウィンとBroomeとDervyの南側にあるポート・ヘッドランドは無人で、クーパンからは距離17ヘクスと遠いのでこれまで爆撃は加えていませんでした。しかし、爆撃をされないと感じると、連合軍がここに兵員を送り込んでくることになるだろうと予想されます。その対策として、ポート・ヘッドランドのヘクスには1月26日からI-124をはりつけていました。昨日2月10日、その輸送船団がやってきました。
リプレイを見ていると、I-124は一隻のxAKLを魚雷で、一隻のxAKLを浮上して砲撃で沈めました。夜が明けてから、もう一隻のxAKLには視認されてしまい、浮上砲戦を挑もうとして弾薬切れのために断念したと表示されました。たしかに14cm/40 11YT GunのAmmoは2(16)となっていました。二隻目のxAKLを攻撃するのに魚雷を使って砲弾を温存していれば、1ターンで3隻撃沈できたかもしれないので、残念です。連合軍のTFをみてみると、TK, PG, xAKLで、こういう危険な水域には沈められても惜しくないxAKLを派遣しているのでしょうが、いちおう護衛にPGが含まれています。I-124のTF指揮官の岸上幸一大佐はAgg 65と極端に高い値ではありませんが、PGを護衛に付けていれば必ず潜水艦に浮上砲戦を控えさせることができるというわけではないんですね。
この日はほかに、アメリカ西海岸沖でI-7がxAK Jeff Davisを撃沈し、第20師団をパレンバンに、第148歩兵聯隊を中国南部のPakhoiに上陸させました。しかしラングーン空襲を企図して、爆撃機と護衛戦闘機がsweepより先に到着してしまい、Ki-43-Ic 11機、Ki-21-IIa 4機喪失と散々な目にあいました。昨日までは Ki-43-IcがHurricane IIbをかもにする展開だったので、ショック。
