昭和17年12月15日、第14師団/Cを載せた揚陸船団がウエーク島に到着しました。同行したDMSが39個の機雷を処理して、機雷による被害はありませんでした。軽巡を含んだ水上戦闘TFがウエーク島のヘクスにはりついてパトロールしていますが、このTFを直接護衛していたのはPCとPBだけなので、上陸支援射撃は微弱で米軍の被害はほとんどありません。しかし、米軍側の砲も対空砲ばかりのようで艦船に被害はありませんでした。AK4隻に分乗してきたので、夜の間に全員上陸できたようです。ただ、この部隊のprepはTruk(100)のままなので(ウエーク島での仕事が済んだらまたトラックに戻す予定)、戦闘前の上陸行動だけで179deviceがdisabledになってしまいました。戦力はほぼ半減です(戦闘後はTOEの50/99で、戦闘による被害は僅少だったので)。日本側の緒戦期上陸ボーナスがなくなった後に、prepが不十分なまま上陸するとどうなるかという見本です。ご参考まで。
陸戦フェーズでのウエーク島の攻防戦は、素のAVが日本側105対米軍7、修正AV34対6、オッズ比5対1と快勝でした。緒戦期は別として、米軍が上陸占領した島嶼の根拠地を日本側が奪還できる日が来るとは思ってもみなかったので感慨はひとしおです。ウエーク島奪還を祝って久しぶりに東京ローズが登場してお祝いしてくれました。米軍側の被害は駐屯していた106th USN Base Forceと75th Coast AA Regimentとのほかに、TrackerによるとF4F-4 Wildcatが43機損失と報告されています。この43機のうち38機がOps lossなのはいいとして、不思議なのはあとの5機はAir lossと報告されていたことです。今日はF4Fの参加したような空戦はなかったし、占領後のウエーク島の飛行場をみても、滑走路ダメージ99、サービス施設ダメージ89ととても飛べる状態ではないし、なぜこういう数字が出てくるのが分かりません。
占領後、ウエーク島の兵員数が7119名となってしまいました。ウエーク島はAtollなので、ペナルティなしで駐屯できる兵員数の上限は6000名です。米軍の残していったもの(SPAMなんかも含まれているかも)とあわせてサプライは15783トンと充分にありますが、14師団/Cはなるべく早くトラックに戻ってもらおうと思います。かわりにウエーク島には工兵や飛行場を整備する部隊を送り込んで、また二式大艇を配備したいと思います。
WitP AEでの対人戦は、自分が指示を入力してセーブしたファイルを相手に送り、相手が指示を入力したファイルを送り返してくれる、というプロセスの繰り返しです。セーブファイルの受け渡しに、Dropboxなんかのクラウドサービスを利用し始めている人たちもいるようですが、このゲームはメールにファイルを添付しての受け渡しで、文字通りPBEMです。メールには簡単な感想なんかを書いたりするのですが、その日のリプレイのネタバレにあたるようなことは書かないのがエチケットだろうと思っていて、お相手の方もだいたいその点は同じ認識のようで、ネタバレ的なことが書かれたメールのくることはほとんどありません。しかし中国柳州での日本側の奮闘にはお相手の方もじれてきているようで、このターン用のセーブファイルを添付したメールには、今日はshock attackするから人海戦術できっと勝つと書かれてありました。2日前のエントリーに
私が中国側をもっていれば、もう2日間休養をとらせてその後でshock attackを指示して一気に日本鬼子を追い出すところ。
と書いたように、私もshock attackが有効と考えていたので、shock attackされればもうだめだろうと思いながらリプレイをみました。ところが予想に反して、素のAVが日本側156対中国軍4476、修正AV318対485、オッズ比1対1で今日も踏みとどまってしまいました。日本側の素のAVは昨日と比較するとほぼ半減しているのに、修正AVは昨日比1.3倍となっていて、苦境にもめげない日本の兵隊さんたちの健気さがよくシミュレートされているゲームです。中国兵の資質を思えば連戦ではなく、私が書いたように「2日間休養をとらせてその後でshock attack」の方が良かったみたいです。
柳州での戦闘で日本側のdeviceの被害数がとても多いことを繰り返し書いてきましたが、今日の戦闘を振り返って感じるのは、日本側のdeviceの破壊は、いったんdisabledになったdeviceが破壊されていると考えた方がいいのかなということです。つまり、日本側は兵力3万弱と少数なので、 disabledになったdeviceがもう一度被害を受けて破壊される確率が高い。それに対して、中国軍は20万名以上の大軍だから、disabledになったdeviceがあらためて被害を受ける確率が低く、破壊にまでいたるdeviceが少ないという感じです。こうでも考えないと、ここまでがんばれる理由が分からないので。
