昭和17年12月14日、また機雷による被害が出ました。場所はパレンバンへ続くムシ川河口のヘクスで、11月13日にも潜水艦敷設機雷による大きな被害が出たところです。前回の被害に懲りて、このヘクスにはAMcを一隻貼り付けてパトロールさせているのですが、機雷を発見したのはこのAMcではなく、パレンバンからシンガポールへリソースを輸送するコンボイの護衛をしていたPB Tama Maruの触雷によるものでした。PB Tama Maruは小さな船なのでそのまま沈没してしまいました。シンガポールからDMS2隻の掃海TFを派遣しましたが、掃海が完了するまでこの航路は一時閉鎖です。うっとうしいですね、こういう連合軍の嫌がらせは。
ビルマ戦線では12月11日にラシオ上空で多数の爆撃機を撃墜しました。その影響か、連合軍は爆撃の目標を変更したようで、今日はPort Blairとモールメンにやってきました。モールメンへは緒戦期の3月8日以来の9ヶ月ぶりの空襲です。四発爆撃機60機(B-24D Liberator 36、B-17E Fortress 24)の爆撃でPort hits 15、Port fuel hits 7、Port supply hits 2の被害でした。昨日や一昨日、空襲の前触れとなるようなモールメンへの偵察機の飛来はありませんでした。連合軍としてはモールメン港で揚陸作業が行われているか、ACMかなにかが艦船が在泊していると予想して、飛行場ではなく港を狙ってきたのでしょう。さいわい、港にいたAMcに被害はありませんでした。
Port Blairには9機のLiberator IIが飛来しました。Port Blairに対する四発機の爆撃は初めてだと思います。Airbase hits 2、Airbase supply hits 1Runway hits 8と被害はそれほど大きくなく、今朝の時点では滑走路に6、サービス施設に13のダメージがあるだけでした。しかし日本側としてはここを爆撃されるのは嫌です。二式水戦を派遣しても返り討ちに遭うでしょうから、CAPで守ることがまず不可能です。Port Blairの港の規模は2、飛行場の規模は1しかないので、今日モールメンにむかった60機もPort Blairに集中すれば、港・飛行場ともにダメージ100にするのは難しいことではないと思われます。Port Blairには二式大艇の部隊を配備してアンダマン海の哨戒を行わせていましたが、スマトラ島北端のサバンに後退させることにしました。大規模な空襲があれば地上で破壊されてしまうのは目に見えていますからね。アンダマン海の哨戒はサバンに後退させた二式大艇とラングーンの九六陸攻で分担することとし、哨戒域が多少後退するのはやむを得ないと判断しました。
ウエーク島ですが、今日は機動部隊からもRoi-Namurからも空襲が実施されました。飛行場が回復することが嫌で、飛行場爆撃を優先させたんですが、判断がよくなかったかもしれません。その後のShock Attackは、素のAV31対8、修正AV9対7で3日前の9対9よりすこし良くなりましたが、オッズ比はあいかわらず1対1で奪取はなりませんでした。しかたがないので、明日は陸軍部隊の助けを借りることになります。
中国の柳州では今日も中国軍の攻撃があり、素のAV4647対295、修正AV338対236、オッズ比1対1で防衛できました。しかし被害の多さは相変わらずで、風前の灯火です。
