昭和17年5月18日、オーストラリア東岸の都市ブリスベンの東方でRO-65がCL Perthを雷撃し、魚雷一本が命中しました。Heavy Damageの表示はなかったので安泰でしょうが、シドニーで修理することになるのかな。このほかに軽巡1隻と駆逐艦3隻の存在が報告されていますが、北と南のどちらに向かっているTFだったものか？北行きだとすると、警戒が必要です。でも、翌朝には姿が見えなくなっているので不明です。
その後、クックタウンの東方でRO-66がオランダ船籍のxAP Kota Pinangに魚雷を2本発射し、2本とも命中して沈没しました。このxAP Kota Pinangはポートモレスビーからクックタウン方面へ移動していたコンボイの一隻で、5月17日にやはりRO-66が魚雷を一本命中させて行足を止めていた船で、同じヘクスで2日にわたって攻撃して仕留めたことになります。
昼のフェーズになってから、オーストラリア西南の都市パースのはるか西方沖でI-123がAM Colacを撃沈しました。AM2隻からなるTFだったので、ASW TFですね。連合軍の潜水艦はASW任務に就いている日本のPBやDDによく魚雷を命中させています(そしてdud)が、日本の潜水艦は小艦艇にははずればかりで、今日の命中は珍しく感じました。
そして、そのはるか北方にSIGINTで連合軍TFの存在が報告されました。なんでこんなところにいるんでしょうか？ケープタウンからパースへ向けての航路はもっとずっと南寄りです。オフマップを経由してではなく、マップ西端経由でインド方面からオーストラリア(またはその反対)にむけて航海させているんでしょうか？それとも、ジャワ方面に向けて艦砲射撃か空襲を企図している？オーストラリア西岸沿いだと日本の潜水艦にみつかるので、こんな西方を経由してPort Headland(このマップの北東のはしっこ)に嫌がらせに行く？目的は全く不明ですが、こういうあたりを連合軍TFが航海していることが判明したのは大収穫。アメリカの空母は昨日はオーストラリア東岸にいたので、強力なAir Combat TFでないことはたしかなので、ちょっと時間はかかりますが、マラッカ海峡を南下中のmini KBをこっち方の面探索に振り向けてみることにしました。
