中国戦線の空戦で惨敗


昭和17年10月13日、シンガポールから送り出した掃海TFがパレンバン入り口で18個の機雷を処理しました。この一日だけの掃海作業で機雷のアイコンは消失しました。前日のコンバットリポートでは合計8個の機雷がclearedと報告されています。5隻が各1個の機雷に接触して、あと3個は航行中に発見して処理されたんでしょうね。ACMのいないところに敷設した機雷なので、一日で自然減が0-1個あるとして、連合軍潜水艦は26-27個の機雷を敷設したものと思われます。それで2隻沈没・3隻大破ですから、機雷恐るべしですね。
中国戦線の爆撃機の大部分は漢口に配置して、周囲の中国軍根拠地の飛行場(サプライ破壊が主目的)や地上部隊を爆撃しています。緒戦の頃と違って、目標はランダムに選択しているつもりです。今日は漢口から長沙へ、61機の一式戦(Ki-43-Ic Oscar)の護衛で九七重爆(Ki-21-IIa Sally)53機と百式重爆(Ki-49-IIa Helen)45機が2波にわかれて地上部隊の爆撃に向かいました。ここ数ヶ月、中国の上空に連合軍機の機影をみることはなく、また長沙には毎日偵察機を飛ばしていますが前日には飛行場に一機もいなかったのに、今日はP-43A-1 Lancer 12機とP-39D Airacobra 28機、合計40機のCAPが上がっていました。以前も同じようにCAPに待ち伏せされたことがあって、その時の日本側の勝利で終わりました。その後、中国軍戦闘機部隊は成都に籠って訓練を続けてきたものとみえ、今日は日本側が一式戦(Ki-43-Ic Oscar) 25機、九七重爆(Ki-21-IIa Sally) 4機と百式重爆(Ki-49-IIa Helen) 3機の損失に対し、中国側はP-39D Airacobra 4機のみと大きな敗北を喫してしまいました。

たらればを語ると、まず爆撃行が2波に分かれず1波にまとまっていれば護衛戦闘機61機対CAP 40機ですから。もう少しましな成績だったと思います。また地上部隊爆撃ではなく飛行場爆撃を命じていたら、ダメージを受けた中国軍戦闘機のうちの一部はその日のうちに整備が完了せず成都に移動することができない → 今日これから予定の長沙飛行場爆撃により地上で破壊されることになっただろうにと残念です。また中国戦線の戦闘機パイロットは護衛任務でexp, defence値を稼がせようと、ビルマ戦線のパイロットよりスキル値の低い人ばかりだったので、これも悪い方に作用したんだと思います。これからは、中国戦線でも飛行場爆撃の頻度をもっと増やして、かなり覚悟がないと前線の飛行場に戦闘機を移動しにくい状況をつくるようにしたいと思います。
やられっぱなしも悔しいので、朗報も一つ。シドニーのはるか東方海上でI-171がCVE Long Islandを発見して魚雷を4本発射し、1本だけ命中しました。CVE Long Islandには9月8日にニューギニア南岸のMeraukeで一式陸攻が250kg爆弾を一発命中させました。しかし、今日のアニメーションでは煙を吹き上げてるような絵ではなかったので、シドニーでの修理が完了したんでしょう。こんなに早く修理が済んでしまうとは残念ではあります。また、搭載している機種がfighter 16機というのが腑に落ちませんが、DD Hughes一隻だけを護衛に伴ってシドニー・西海岸航路上を東方に向けて航海しているということは、空からのASW任務をしていたんでしょうか。日本にもCVE大鷹がありますが、かえって潜水艦の餌食になりそうで、とてもASWに使う気にはなりません。連合軍にはこれからじゃんじゃん軽空母が(正規空母も)就役しますから、使い惜しみをする必要がないのでしょう。お金持ちはうらやましい。
