Information画面でみられる沈没船のリストの昭和17年8月2日のところに、DD HammannとDD Arrowの名前がありました。2隻とも連合軍の駆逐艦ですが、沈没の原因がCollisionとなっていて、沈没地点がそれぞれ、121,166 near Mareと122,164 near Anatomという中1ヘクス離れたところなので、この2隻が衝突してその結果沈没したものと思われます。日本側でも時々衝突する艦船はありますが、これまで衝突のせいで沈没した艦船の経験はないので珍しいなと感じました。
この2艦の衝突・沈没に関してさらに不思議なのは、いったいどうやって沈没したことが日本側に伝わったのかという点です。きっと日本側と同じように連合軍側でも時々衝突事故が起きているんだと思いますが、連合軍艦船の衝突事故が日本側に報らされたことは一度もありません。また、今回の衝突・沈没はCombat report, Combat Events, Operational Report, SIGINT Reportのどれにも載せられていませんでした。沈没地点はルーガンビルの二式大艇の哨戒圏内なので、二式大艇が衝突事故と沈没を目撃したという設定で、日本側にばれてしまったわけでしょうか？気になります。
中国は攻めあぐんでます。長沙から南西に向かう鉄道線の末端の柳州になんとか手を出せないかと思って、増援を送らせないようにするため、柳州の北東隣りのヘクスに独立混成第八旅団を進軍させました。道無き森の中の進軍なので、進軍を指示したのは一ヶ月くらい前だったかと思います。その頃は目的のヘクスの中国軍部隊はそれほどの兵力ではありませんでした。ようやく昨日、目的地に到着してmove modeからcombat modeに変更しておきましたが、中国軍は7万5000名にも増援されていて、果敢に攻撃を仕掛けて来ました。森林の防御効果3倍がありましたが、到着直後でサプライが不足していたそうです。修正前AVが192対2762、銃撃の応酬後の修正AVは41対1862、オッズ比1対45で惨敗を喫してしまいました。死傷者2898名で一ヶ月近くかかった移動は無となり、元のヘクスに追い返されました。我ながら作戦立案能力の拙さにあきれてしまいました。
