トラックからラバウルへサプライを輸送するコンボイもブナからのB-25C Mitchellに攻撃されましたが、ラバウルでCAPしていたゼロ戦(A6M2)が1機駆けつけたことと、B-25も3機だけだったので狙われたxAKL Indus Maruへの命中弾ゼロで戦闘を終えることができました。ラバウルではそれなりの数の戦闘機がCAPしているはずで、しかもラバウルに入港するコンボイを守るためrange 2を指示してあります。もっとたくさんのCAP機が救援に駆けつけてほしかったところですが、コンボイにレーダー装備艦がなく、目視で2分前の探知ですから、近くにいた1機が対応できただけだったんでしょうね。ラバウルへのコンボイにはレーダー装備艦を護衛につけるべきかな。
先日のエントリーでカルカッタの飛行場にauxilary 122機と多数の存在が報告されたことに触れました。連合軍の輸送機は主に中国へのサプライ輸送に従事しているものと思っていましたが、カルカッタのauxilaryの一部が輸送機だとすればアキャブへサプライを空輸しているんじゃないだろうかと思い付きました。まだ雨期で、鉄道が通じているのにビルマ北部へのサプライ輸送には苦労しています。小道しか通じていないアキャブへのサプライ輸送も順調ではないだろうから、もしかすると空輸もしているのかなと考えたわけです。そこで昨日はMagweの二式戦の一個飛行隊42機にアキャブへのLRCAP 100%を指示してみました。輸送機は空戦アニメーションには登場せず、空輸フェーズにしか飛ばない仕様です。リプレイを見ていると空輸フェーズに

と表示されました。予想通りです。一個飛行隊の全力を挙げての迎撃ですから、さぞやたくさんの敵輸送機を撃墜できただろうと思ってTrackerをみてみると、戦果はC-47 SkytrainのOps loss 1機のみでした。Ops loss 1機はふだんでもみかけることなので、実質的には戦果ゼロだと思います。このLRCAPをしばらく続ければ敵輸送機の機体のfatigue値が蓄積していって、だんだんとOps lossが増えてゆくのかも知れません。でもMagweから距離4ヘクスしかないアキャブ上空のLRCAPでも100%を指示すると一日で二式戦部隊のfatigueは23まで上昇してしまいます。いったん休養をとらせて、LRCP 40%, Rest 40%くらいで続けることにするかどうか、考えてみたいと思います。
そしてリプレイ後のマップに発見したのがオーストラリア西岸沖のこの連合軍TF。ここはチモール島クーパンの陸攻の哨戒圏の外ですが、たまたま潜水艦が発見してくれました。軽巡と駆逐艦各1の存在を報告してきていますが、進行方向は不明です。なぜこんなところにいるのか気になります。すぐ近くのPort Headlandには、パースを偵察するために二式大艇3機の支隊を配置してあります。そこの艦砲射撃でもするつもりでしょうか？？
