ホーランディアにはゼロ戦の飛行隊を3つ配置してありました。CAPを指示してあったのはそのうちの一つだけで、残りの2つにはニューギニア南岸のMeraukeへのsweepと、Merauke爆撃に向かう九七重爆の護衛を指示してありました。Meraukeを8月27日に占領されてから、ホーランディア配置の飛行隊には数日間の休養を指示し、その後、Merauke飛行場のsweepと爆撃を指示してあったのですが、悪天候のせいで出撃できない日が続いていました。ようやく今日は九七重爆24機が爆撃に向かい、Airbase hits 6、Airbase supply hits 14、Runway hits 16の戦果をあげました。サプライへの命中が多いのは、連合軍がMeraukeを飛行場として拡張するためにかなりサプライを持ち込んでいたからでしょうね。まだMerauke飛行場には連合軍機はいなかったので、sweepのゼロ戦はホーランディアでCAPさせておけば良かったと感じました。
次のターンに向けて、今日sweepや護衛に飛んだゼロ戦もホーランディアのCAPに振り向けておきました。はたして2ターン連続でやって来るのかどうか。今日は四発爆撃機の方にはほとんど被害がなかったので、来る可能性大かなと思います。もう一度、今日の規模の爆撃を繰り返されると、ホーランディア飛行場は機能停止なので、なんとか防がないと。今日はショートランドにも33機が来襲しましたが、こちらは一発も命中弾がありませんでした。
今日はビルマ戦線でも四発機21機と双発機15機による爆撃がビルマ東部のラシオにありました。ラシオには飛行機を配置していないので地上での破壊はなしでしたが、飛行場サービス施設に12と滑走路に15のダメージを受けました。連合軍は、いまのところ日本側が航空優勢を維持している印緬国境近くの飛行場には飛行機を配置していません。今日の爆撃もはるばるカルカッタからでした。カルカッタには戦闘機37機、爆撃機24機の他にauxilary 122機の存在が報告されています。このauxilary 122機とは何ぞや。3ヶ月ほど前のAux planes on a CVEというスレでwdolsonさん(WitP AE開発者でテストチームのリーダー)が
根拠地とTFに表示される"auxiliary"な飛行機というのは、FoWが影響している。"auxiliary"な飛行機は、輸送機、水上機、偵察機など、たぶん戦闘機でも爆撃機でもないと思われるものをさしている。FoWをオフにする設定でも、根拠地の情報を覗くと"auxiliary"な飛行機が表示される。
と答えていました。でも、輸送機や偵察機が122機もいるのは多すぎる感じ。おそらく、戦闘機とも爆撃機とも識別できなかったものはすべて"auxiliary"な飛行機に含まれているのかなと想像します。また、修理中の機体も"auxiliary"な飛行機に含まれるとどこかで読んだことがあるような気がするのですが、どこでだったか憶い出せません。
