今日もホーランディア夜間空襲

MacBook Proはノートブックなので、使い終わるとたたんでスリープさせます。でもPCの方はデスクトップ機(実際にはデスクの横の床に置いてある)なので、使い終えるとシャットダウンしています。次に使うときにはスイッチを押して起動させますが、XPの旧PCの時よりも起動にかかる時間は短いので苦にはなりません。でも問題なのはこれ。起動してからちょっとすると、毎回このウィンドウが出ます。これ、はい(Y)を押すとJavaがアップデートされ、Trackerが動かなくなってしまいます。なので毎回いいえ(N)を押して消してますが、面倒です。XPの旧PCの時はこんなお節介なお知らせはなかったのに。

昭和17年11月26日、西太平洋から連合軍機動部隊の姿が消えました。ご覧の通り、広範に哨戒しているつもりですから、見逃しているということはないですよね。ウエーク島のヘクスにも連合軍TFがいなくなりましたから、アメリカル師団の乗船が終わり、機動部隊ともども帰途についてくれたのだと思いたいところです。それならば、西太平洋はしばらく平和な海に戻れるわけですから。

恒例の夜間空襲ですが、ビルマは悪天候だったようでなし。ニューギニア北岸のホーランディアに南岸のTerapoから四発爆撃機58機(B-17E Fortress 24、B-17F Fortress 13、B-24D Liberator 21)が12波にわかれて来襲しました。かなりのfragmentationです。前日同じくKi-43-IIa Oscarが19で迎撃しましたが、日本機損失17、Airbase hits 6、Airbase supply hits 1、Runway hits 15とまたまた大きな損害を受けました。連合軍側の損失はB-24D LiberatorのOps lossが2機だけでした。

夜間空襲の迎撃はまったくわりにあいません。しかたがないので、大元のTerapoを叩きに、BB扶桑、CL神通と駆逐艦4隻の艦砲射撃部隊が、Terapoまで距離8ヘクスの地点に来ています。スラバヤ出港後、ここまでは連合軍哨戒機に発見されずに到達できました。このままゆけば、次の夜のフェーズに艦砲射撃を実施して、無事帰還するはずですが、問題が発生。コンバットリポートをみると、

この３つの哨戒の報告がありました。BB扶桑の艦載機は艦砲射撃用にTerapoの夜間Reconを指示してあるので飛んでいませんが、CL神通の艦載機には前路の対潜哨戒用にrange 4でnaval serchをさせていたのでした。これは前日のうちに中止させるか、rangeを2に減らしておくべきでした。熱心な偵察機の搭乗員がHorn Islandの在泊艦をしらせてくれたのはいいのですが、連合軍側にも哨戒機・偵察機の目撃報告があがってしまったはずです。

哨戒機・偵察機の目撃報告にも、前者のように機種のみが表示される場合と後者のように機種が特定される場合の2種類があります。この零式水偵(E13A1 Jake)の目撃報告が前者のようにJapanese Float Planeとなってくれていれば、潜水艦搭載の零式小型水上偵察機(E14Y1 Glen)かなと思って見過ごしてくれるかもしれません。でも、E13A1 Jakeと機種名まで報告されているとすると、注意を惹かないはずがありません。零式水偵がこんなところを飛んでいるはずがありませんから。もちろんFoWのせいで機種を誤認しての報告の可能性もありますが、それでもAIではなく人間ならふだんより警戒レベルを上げますよね。

Horn IslandにはDD2隻とたくさんPTがいるそうで、これがどう動くのかが心配です。Horn Islandへの艦砲射撃を警戒して、このままHorn Islandのヘクスに張りついていてくれればラッキーですが、Terapoへの進路をパトロールされると戦艦対PTボートになりそうで、非常に厄介。いまのMoonlightは78%で、こんばんはもう少し暗くなります。でも、ここまできたら意を決して突入。史実で霧島の沈んだのが昭和17年11月15日、比叡が11月21日。同じ展開にならないといいのですが。
