昭和17年11月28日、きのうxAKを2隻撃沈したI-33ですが、今日はAG Atlanta Cityを雷撃しました。残念ながら魚雷は外れてしまいました。連合軍側は米軍魚雷の不発でがっかりすることが多いと思いますが、日本側は潜水艦が商船に向けて放った魚雷でもはずすことが多くてがっかりします。
その後の夜間空襲ですが、ニューギニア戦線の方はお休みで、ビルマではメイクテーラに7波39機(Liberator II 3、B-17E Fortress 13、B-24D Liberator 11、B-25C Mitchell 12)が高度7000フィートで来襲し、二式戦(Ki-44-IIa Tojo)24機が迎撃しました。二式戦が空戦で12機の損失し、駐機中の機体が地上で4機破壊されました。Airbase hits 7、Airbase supply hits 1、Runway hits 17の命中弾がありました。昨日のエントリーでCAPは不要なのかもと書きましたが、7波に分かれて来襲した爆撃機の爆撃の被害を見ると、あとから来たものほど命中弾が多くなっています。これはCAPの数があとになるほど減ってしまうことと関係していると思うんですよね。だからやっぱり可能な限りCAPは上げとこうと思ってしまうのです。
その後に本日のメインイベントのTerapoの艦砲射撃がありました。BB扶桑の艦載水偵が弾着観測し、Airbase hits 18、Airbase supply hits 1、Runway hits 25、Port hits 7、Port supply hits 1の命中弾を得ました。約60機に損傷を与え、Trackerによると7機(Hurricane XIIbとP-39D Airacobra 各2機、P-40E WarhawkとB-24D LiberatorとPBY-5 Catalina各1機)を破壊できたようです。連合軍側からの目立った妨害はなく、艦砲射撃部隊は無事帰途についています。今日の偵察報告では飛行場ダメージ30、港のダメージ29となっていました。もう明るい夜の時期は終わりになるので、Terapo発の夜間空襲は12月半ばすぎまで休業にできたものと判断しています。四発爆撃機をもっとたくさん破壊したかったけれど、まあまあの戦果でした。damagedとコンバットリポートで報告された数と、Trackerで破壊したと表示されている数を比較すると、四発機は破壊しにくいようです。単発機よりdurabilityが高いからなんでしょうね。
こんな風にトラブルなく済むんだったら、扶桑だけでなく、戦艦2隻で来れば良かったとも思います。実はスラバヤは扶桑と山城2隻で出港しました。でも、Horn Islandという連合軍の根拠地の脇をすり抜けて奥まで行く艦砲射撃行ですから、かなり危険だろう、もしかすると戦艦2隻喪失ということもあり得ると思って、山城はクーパンにおいてきてしまったのです。このゲームではすでに大胆過ぎて空母をたくさん失ってます。
その後、呉から南鳥島に増援部隊を送る船団が豊後水道の出口でSS Sturgeonに攻撃され、AK Manila Maruに魚雷が1本命中してしまいました。豊後水道の出口は危ない場所ですし、18ノットを出せる貴重なKyushu級AK3隻のコンボイだったので、DD白雲と薄雲の駆逐艦2隻を護衛に付けてありましたが、やられるときはやられちゃいます。Manila MaruはSys 45, Flt 88(61), Eng 14, Fire 46と浸水被害が大きいだけでなく、さかんに炎上中です。2ヘクス北上できれば大分ですがとても助かるとは思えません。
兵員輸送中の艦船が攻撃されて、即沈没とならなかったのは久しぶりです。乗っている25th JAAF AF Bnの被害はどれくらいなのかみてみると、TOEの74/99で、disabledになったdeviceは多いものの、雷撃でdestroyedになったdeviceは0でした。こういう仕様なんですね。これなら沈没しても救助のしがいがあります。Manila MaruのEscort TFにはDD薄雲がついていますが、駆逐艦1隻で救助できる陸兵の数はわずかでしょう。呉からAPD4隻を派遣してこのEscort TFに合流するよう指示しました。間に合ってくれるかどうか。
