昭和17年11月27日、今日の夜間空襲はニューギニアではホーランディアに、ビルマ戦線ではマグエと久しぶりに日本側からインパールに実施してみました。ホーランディアへは高度7000フィートで10波65機(B-17E Fortress 16、B-17F Fortress 4、B-24D Liberator 45)が来襲しました。前日も夜間空襲があり、CAPを担当していた部隊のfatigueとmoraleが任務に堪えないと判断してラバウルに後退させました。しかし私の勘違いで夜間のCAPを行う代わりの部隊を派遣しなかったので、迎撃機はいませんでした。日本機に12機の損失とAirbase hits 4、Airbase supply hits 3、Runway hits 13の被害が出ました。
ビルマ中部のマグエには高度7000フィートで5波51機(B-17E Fortress 11、B-24D Liberator 24、B-25C Mitchell 16)が来襲。二式戦(Ki-44-IIa Tojo) 20機と二式複戦(Ki-45 KAIa Nick) 11機が迎撃しましたが、日本機にCAPに3機、地上で3機破壊され、Airbase hits 7、Airbase supply hits 1、Runway hits 16の被害が出ました。連合軍爆撃機は対空砲によるものも含めて3機の損失。他方、インパールに対する百式重爆(Ki-49-IIa Helen) 66機の高度12000フィートからの爆撃は、駐機中の機体を1機破壊して、Airbase hits 2、Airbase supply hits 1、Runway hits 3の命中を得ました。
この3つを比較してみると百式重爆の命中爆弾数の少なさが目立ちます。四発機と双発機とで爆弾の搭載量が違うことも影響しているとは思いますが、最大の理由は連合軍機の7000フィートに対して百式重爆12000フィートと投下高度が高かったからだと思います。投下高度を高く設定しているのはなぜかというと連合軍のFlakの威力が凄まじいからです。インパールは単発・双発爆撃機ばかりでまだ守りが弱い方の根拠地ですが、チッタゴンやレド、中国領のPaoshanなどは高度12000フィートでもある程度の犠牲を覚悟しないと爆撃できない感じになっています。
あと、ホーランディアとマグエの被害を比較すると、CAPがいてもいなくても大きな差はない印象です。駐機中の機体(昼間の作戦に使う機体)の破壊がもっと多くなる日もある(今日は少ない)ので、CAPがいなくてもいいとはいえませんが、駐機中の機体の少ない飛行場ではCAPの戦闘機が撃墜されない分、CAPを上げない方が有利だったりするかもしれません。
昨日のエントリーで予告したニューギニア南岸のTerapoの艦砲射撃ですが、今日は実施されませんでした。無事に結構できるのかどうか、はらはらしながらリプレイをみていたので、拍子抜けしてしまいました。リプレイ中止後にチェックしてみると、今回の艦砲射撃TFには最高速度25ノットのBB扶桑が含まれているので、1フェーズに8ヘクス(BB金剛級は8ヘクス動けます)ではなく7ヘクスしか移動できないのでした。昨日の位置から東に1ヘクス移動し、Terapoまで距離7ヘクスのところに達しているので、今晩決行してくれるはずです。
今回のこの動きをみての感想ですが、艦砲射撃TFは全速で目的地に接近し、艦砲射撃し、全速で待避する設定です。ですから、決行の前日の位置は全速力で到達できるぎりぎりのところなのは納得できます。でも、艦砲射撃の2日前の位置は、cruise speedで艦砲射撃1日前の位置に到達できるヘクス(6-8ヘクス離れたところ)でいいだろうと思うのです。わざわざ、艦砲射撃2日前に、1日前の位置の隣りにまで進んでしまうなんて、理不尽な仕様です。
昨日の水偵の目撃報告は連合軍の注意をひかなかったようで、Terapoに達する航路上には連合軍のDDやPTボートのTFはみあたりません。今日のうちに艦砲射撃が終了する予定で、CL神通搭載水偵の設定は変えずにいたので、今日も”E13A1 Jake sighting report: 7 Allied ships at 91,128 near Horn Island , Speed unknown ”という報告がきています。つまり今日も零式水偵の目撃報告が連合軍側にいっているかもしれず。心配は残ります。

シドニーから東方に15ヘクスの地点で、SS I-33がxAK Steel SeafarerとxAK Libertyの2隻を撃沈しました。日本の潜水艦の戦果は久しぶりで、しかも一隻の潜水艦が一日に2隻というのは数ヶ月ぶりの快挙です。また、オーストラリア西岸のパースの沖でSS I-153がxAK Michael Livanosを、中部太平洋でSS I-9がDE Sutlejを雷撃しました。2隻とも残念ながら魚雷をはずし(貨物船に魚雷を命中させ損なったI-153の艦長は降格させたいくらい)てはいますが、連合軍側がこれら潜水艦の攻撃に目を奪われ、水偵の目撃報告などに気が回らないようだといいのですが。
