敵機のレーダーと目撃による発見

きのうのエントリーで、レーダーよりも目視での探知の方が遠距離で早い場合のあったことに触れました。しかし、パッチ5で ”2.1. Fix land radar check that was not always accounting for radar detection. ”という地上レーダーへの修正が行われてから、少なくともポートモレスビーでは目視による敵機の探知の例は見られなくなりました。パッチ5以降、レーダーの配備された基地では目視により敵機が探知されることがなくなったのかどうか、気になるところ。detectedがレーダー探知、spottedが目視での探知と考えて、リポートをチェックしてみました。虱潰しに見たわけではないのですが、以下の2例がありました。

昭和17年11月29日のMyitkyina。ここにはTa-Chi3 Radarが2機ありますが、5波の空襲のうち4回はレーダーで探知され、あと一回は目視で探知されています。この目視での探知は前4波のレーダーよりも探知距離・時間ともかなり短く、なぜレーダーが探知しなかったのかは謎です。

昭和17年12月16日のToungoo。ここにはType 2 Radarが2機あります。この日は夜間空襲だけ目視で探知で、午前中の2波の空襲はレーダーで探知されています。夜間空襲こそ目視では探知しにくく、しかも嵐ですから、レーダーの出番だと思うのですが。

敵の偵察機の発見がレーダーではなく、オペレーショナルリポートにsightedと報告される仕様は、単機だとレーダーでは見つけにくいということを言いたいのでしょう。devの人たちのそういう意向を反映して、大編隊、双発や四発爆撃機などの大型機はレーダーに遠くから探知されやすく、戦闘機のsweepは近くまで接近しないとレーダーが探知できない傾向にあることは確かだと思います。でも、今回の2例はその傾向にも反しているようで、本当に謎です。
