中国戦線ではSian攻略を目指して攻撃中です。Sianを攻略したい理由の一つは、油田があること。21と小さいですがOilは貴重。HI 21とRefinery 21も魅力的です。またSianの飛行場を確保できれば、成都への航空攻撃が可能になります。連合軍はLedoからSkytrainで成都向けにサプライを毎日送り込んでいるはずで、これを少しでも妨害できればいいなと思っています。
当初は図の緑色破線のルート、Sianの南東側のヘクス84, 42からSianを攻略しようと考えていました。しかし、ヘクス84, 42の地形は森林なので、砲撃しても空から爆撃しても中国軍に与えるダメージが非常に小さく、ここの突破はあきらめました。実際に砲撃した結果をアクションレポートから下に示します。
レポートに日本側の歩兵師団・歩兵旅団の名前が表示されていますが、砲撃したのは砲兵のLCU7つ(14th Medium Field Artillery Regiment, 14th Ind.Art.Mortar Battalion, 52nd Ind.Mtn.Gun Battalion, 6th Medium Field Artillery Regiment, 15th Ind.Medium Field Artillery Regiment, 51st Ind.Mtn.Gun Battalion, 2nd Ind. Mountain Gun Regiment)です。そして、中国軍に与えた被害は40 casualties(Squads: 1 destroyed, 3 disabled Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 1 disabled)だけ。砲兵7ユニットも集まっているのに本当に被害が少ない。以前、砲兵が強力だった頃、満州の砲兵部隊を中国に移動させて中国戦線を席巻するのがAARで流行っていました。私のPBEMも砲兵が弱体化される前に始めたのですが、なんとなくそのやり方がチートくさくて嫌だったので、満州の砲兵は移動させませんでした。満州・中国国境を越えるのにPPを消費するハウスルールにしてあるので、今となっては移動させなくて良かったと思っています。ここの砲兵は元々中国にいたものと、フィリピン攻略後に中国に移動させたものだったと思います。
仕方がないので、図の緑色実戦のルートに変更しました。ヘクス84, 41の地形は耕地で、爆撃するとかなりの被害を中国軍に与えることができます。現在、中国戦線の爆撃機はTsiaotso、Hankow、Kaifeng、Taiyuanに配備しています。Hankowの爆撃機はSianの飛行場を閉鎖するために主にairfieldを爆撃させていて、Sian飛行場のダメージがかなり高くなるか、またはSianの天気予報が悪天候の時にだけ、他の部隊と一緒にヘクス84, 41の中国軍を爆撃しています。
中国戦線では制空権を握っているので、今のところ連合軍戦闘機を気にする必要がほとんどありません。また中国軍部隊のAA値はかなり低いらしく、高度6000フィートで爆撃してもこちらの爆撃機がFlakにより撃墜されることはまずありません。高度を低くする方が爆撃の効果も大きいようで、下記のように2波の爆撃で合計479 casualities(squads 1 destroyed, 49 disabeld)というような被害を与えることができます。
この日は、ヘクス84, 41で初めて陸戦も行ってみましたが、まだ日本側勝利には至りません。でも、陸戦でも中国側の被害が多いこと、また中国側はdisabledから回復するのに日本側より時間がかかるらしいので、このまま爆撃を続けていれば、いずれはSianに進撃することができそうです。連合軍側もそう考えたのか、Sianにいる部隊を脱出させ始めた感じ。
ただ、こうやって空からの攻撃を続けていて気になるのはビルマのこと。爆弾搭載量の少なさでは定評のあるIJAの爆撃機でも、敵の歩兵部隊をすり減らすことができるのですから、連合軍の四発機なら歩兵部隊の天敵になりそう。ミートキーナは森林ヘクスなので別にしても、Magwe、マンダレー、Shweboなどビルマの中央平原のヘクスでどうなるかが非常に心配です。
