中国軍は昭和17年11月16日、Kungchangに再び空軍部隊を配備しました。
ここには9月末にも飛行機が配備され、日本側の飛行場爆撃を受けて撤退したことがあります。ここに空軍部隊が居座ると地上戦に影響を及ぼすので、11月16日からまた爆撃を始めました。16日も、それから下記のリポートにあるように17日も、中国軍はCAPを上げていません。爆撃されるだけの飛行場に戦闘機を配備するのは地上で破壊されるだけ(実際、16日にはI-16-IIIを一機破壊しました)でもったいない気がしますが、どうなんでしょう。
また、偵察で南方のKweiyangにも空軍部隊が配備されているのを発見。Kweiyangの偵察はそんなに頻繁には実施していなかったのでいつからいるのかは不明ですが、少なくとも先週は飛行機がいませんでした。桂林に戦闘機を移動させてsweepと漢口からの爆撃も明日から始める予定です。でも、Kweiyangの飛行場規模は5もあるので、連合軍側が本気になるときびしい戦いになりそうです。
西安攻略後の地上部隊ですが、数日restの状態でfatigueとdisruptionを回復させた後、撤退していった中国軍部隊の後を追わせました。16日に西安から2ヘクス西北で追いつき、17日から砲撃を開始。17日は手始めに砲兵9ユニットだけで砲撃させてみましたが、死傷者297名、破壊されたdevice6、disabledになったdevice32と、歩兵師団も一緒に砲撃していた西安市ヘクスでの攻撃より中国軍に与える損害が大きいようです。Sand desertという地形の影響か、西安に籠城していた時とは違ってfortificationがないからなのか。今後は、歩兵師団も一緒に砲撃して、しばらく戦力を削ぐ予定。
連合軍側の主な空襲は今日もMyitkyinaが目標でした。昨日の空襲でMyitkyinaの飛行場が機能していないことと、他の飛行場から離れていてCAPがいるはずがないと判断して、sweepはビルマ中部のMeiktilaに集中させ、Myitkyinaには爆撃を5波にわたって実施してきました。こんな風な多数の連合軍爆撃機の来襲ですが、 12000フィートからの水平爆撃に対して日本側の主力Flakである75mm T88 AA Gunではダメージを与えること自体もまれで、撃墜なんて全く無理な話。今日は合計で57発の500ポンド爆弾が滑走路と飛行場施設に命中し、滑走路ダメージ64、飛行場施設ダメージ80。しばらく営業中止が続きます。
